After a morning opening up MK and a rainy couple of hours spending money at DD (sorry to the woman behind me in the cashier line who only wanted a couple things of candy!) we took the bus to BW to eat my BDay dinner at Spoodles.
Again it's me, DH, DD 14, DD 11, and DS 8.
We used to be DVC and stayed at the BWV twice, so we had eaten at the pizza window here but never the restaurant itself. I was a little apprehensive because I'd seen some so-so reviews on Deb's site.
For appetizers both girls got the 4 cheese flatbread, DS got flatbread, and DH and I both got the garlic shrimp. The flatbreads were really big! The girls were hard-pressed to finish this one. The shrimp was wonderful. I am starting to notice that the most awesome appetizers seem to be served on triangular plates! Maybe I need to buy some of those!
For the entrees DS had grilled cheese, the girls had fettucine alfredo and DH and I both had the steak with shrimp and scallops on the side. I could not finish the shrimp and scallops--DH finished the shrimp but not the scallops. They were all really wonderful but we were feeling really bloated as this was our third night on the DDP. The girls got the fettucine because we didn't think they could handle anything heavier and they were happy with it.
For dessert DD#2 got the chocolate raspberry pistachio cake (I hope I'm reading my notes right)--I made sure she liked pistachios and she assured me she eats them at Grandpa's house. DH and DS just got ice cream; DD#1 and I got the creme brulee. Big mouth DS told the server it was my BDay and I got a candle and a bunch of wait staff singing Happy Birthday with mine! I with I could remember our server's name because he was really good and we gave him an extra tip.
The atmosphere in here is kind of loud, but after our dinner I don't see why so many reviews are bad. I know a lot of people don't like it compared to the "old" menu, but I never had the "old" menu so I don't see the problem. We had a very nice dinner and headed to Epcot after, managing to do all the big rides that night so we actually slept in until 10:30 the next day!
Including tip this one cost our family of 5 $245 on the DDP. And the next day we didn't even eat until dinner--since we slept in we just got a snack during the day. Our tummies needed a break and we used those last CS credits on our departure day.
