sponsor the dis

For my first year, I felt why pay for something I could get free. This year, I could not imagine not supporting a forum that provided so much information, firendship, and help with my Disney fix. Under the current circumstances, I question my decision.

Ditto

I had just discussed this weekend becoming a Dis sponser. I thought, "I really get more out of the DVC area of the Dis than I do anywhere else online." I loved the interplay of other members and the feeling of DVC community.

But not now. My DVC "community" got nuked.

I realize my sense of humor may not be everyone's cup of tea. But I also feel I have contributed intelligently and seriously in many ways to the boards since I joined in 2001. And I make it a point to treat others with maturity and respect when there is a difference of opinion. My sarcasm is reserved for lighthearted humor, not used for insinuation or insult during a discussion. I therefore expect the same in return.

I happened to stumble upon some information that suggested more detailed reasoning behind the changes around here. When I privately offered my interpretion of the post and requested clarification, I was responded to in, IMO, a condescending manner.

I love the Dis and the resources and community it provides. I will make this pledge - If the recent changes around here are explained to us truthfully and respectfully, and if after that happens I decide to remain an active participant, I will become a sponsor.

Ditto from me as well.

I didn't know how much I would love this place. Now I wish I had kept my money.

I really hadn't thought too much about it until recently. I visit two other message board sites and just started supporting them. I was about to start with this website - just pondering which level.

But now, I doubt I will. I'm not sure.

I understand if a board is getting filled with personal posts that there may be some need to separate them out - but what I don't understand is putting all the DVC Community into the already overcrowded DIS Community.

I rarely, rarely go to other forums - usually only when I have a very specific need. And I never go to the DIS Community - even before the DVC Community forum.

I think with overall DVC membership high and growing - and the activity on the DVC section growing, that a DVC Community Board here is warranted.

On the other two websites, I plan to increase my activity and continue to form new community bonds. I think I'm basically done with this one except for information/reading which frankly - I can get all I need to know on other websites. This one can just be more entertaining.

And if that's all it is, then I don't plan to provide monetary support.

This is my second year of silver. It used to be worth that much to me -- or more. This is the only forum I've ever stayed with for several years. They always seem to get trashed by participants or made irrelevant by some overbearing, controlling moderators -- and then I leave.

I stayed here and paid because of the DVC community. It was fine the way it was with just one forum. Even better with the extra community forum. But it's starting to look like deja vu.

I'm willing to wait and see what happens. What happens to this thread will be somewhat of a test.

If the whole thing falls apart, someone please pm me and let me know where you've all gone.

Maybe one of you computer savvy guys can start a blog for us.

as some who is visiting over here looking to learn about dvc to rent points
i understand why you would want your own community board

i spend alot of time over there and with all the games ( i have begged for a game board) the political stuff and personal posts things get passed over to oage 2 quickly
good luck

Thank you for your "reverse" support Alice. It has been commented on in other threads here as well why there ins't a game section when it has been begged for so many times.

Good luck back to you on your wishes!

Laura

When I noticed Dis sponsor in people's signatures I never really knew how they became one. The recently I think I received a pm telling me about how to become a sponsor and I really liked the idea and have been meaning to donate. I still want to but I really, really would love to know that the DVCCB would come back as per the wishes of the majority of us. I know that would definitely motivate me to support something that I really, really love!(Sorry to keep sounding like Sally Field)! :flower:

I'm in my second year of gold sponsership. I hate having to go to the huge CB now. Way too much stuff to wade through. I did enjoy having a smaller community here. Will I not renew my sponsorship? Since I have awhile to go before that time comes, we'll see. I would like to see a DVC CB back though.

lookie - another moved thread from the DVC CB and yet at least 50% of the replies are about the DVC CB. :confused3

Because I'm 15 and I have a date this weekend?

A date with a bowling ball :smooth:

I was angry when the Debate Board was done away with, but now it doesn't seem so bad. You'll get used to it, we don't bite. ;)

I supported the DIS this year. Problem is I keep messing with my avatars and such and I lost my supporter logo. Oh well, I know that I helped out.

It is very much a judgement thing -- people have their reasons and other people either do or don't agree with them.

As for myself, I look at the DIS as a business. My feeling is that although we call this a "Community Board," it really isn't. I view a Community as a place where the citizens have at least a bit of a voice about the organization. That just isn't the case here. To me, the DIS is a gathering place of potential customers. It is perhaps a bit of a Disney-freak shopping mall and we are all hanging out in the Cyber equivalent of the food court. I don't feel the need to donate anymore than I feel the need to donate to Yahoo for using their search engine or free Fantasy Football game or CNN after I read their news site.

I do look at the Sponsor ads, and I used the Travel Agency associated with DIS once.

other people view the DIS in a different light. I'm fine with that.

I support the DIS because I have enjoyed the boards for 6+ years and want them to continue to be here. Although I am not sure what happened to my logo??? :smooth:

You would be surprised by how many sponsor but just don't have the logo.
After I sponsored, the logo was in my siggy for a while than I removed it.

I guess this should be retitled: DVC Members, how many of you....

Since that's where this post originated, and now it's completely out of context as it was moved. I thought moving was supposed to give context, not take it away. Great move....
