Wow. I'm sorry you had medical professionals that were so insensitive. Kind of gives the rest of us a bad name. To people that work in these situations everyday, it may be just "medical waste", but to the families it was hopes, dreams, prayers answered and so much more. I worked in the ED for a few years and took care of a number of women experiencing the same thing. It didn't matter if it was 6 weeks or 36, we had a support process in place to help the families understand and begin to comprehend the impact. And I don't remember any patient that was not emotionally impacted. My role was to determine what you needed medically AND emotionally. I hope I was never that inconsiderate.
I'm glad your pastor was able to help support you through this. I hate the words "closure", "resolution" or "moving on." They are never the right. The most consistent factor I've found to help cope is time. And unfortunately it's one of the few things we can't control.
