There are spoilers in here but not everything because it’s easy to forget all the tiny details and I’ve forgotten exactly how everything went.

Ah, we arrive at least before the tour starts! We have tour guide Corey (rhymes with Dory – he’s the one who told us that! ). He tells us we are going to have to clean the Magic Kingdom – the funniest part is that DD says she can do a good job at that! ROFLMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She wasn’t even phased by it – I don’t think the rest of the tour group quite got this part, because we were all just spread out waiting. He did get some small brooms out but didn’t play it up very much.

Unfortunately, he pointed out a frog and my DS-8 was way more interested in saving this frog (I have no idea if the frog was a real frog in trouble – he had gotten flipped on his back – I didn’t know what to think – if it was a real one, an animatronic one – that was put there as part of the tour since the tour guide casually pointed it out or what! DS was trying to find a stick to flip the frog off his back, I just told him to leave it alone. A little later while we were still there 2 CM’s look where the frog was so I guess it was a real one that was in trouble! Oops! Maybe I should have let DS-8 try to find a stick & help the frog! Sorry frog!).

Onto the tour – the CM gets a page and excuses himself. He comes back and tells us there is bad news. Peter stole Captain Hook’s best hook and he’s not happy. He was telling us how Peter was always taking Captain Hook’s stuff but most of the time he doesn’t even notice it’s gone but his hook is special and he noticed it right away, etc…

We had to look for 2 special bags and the map! Someone found a little black bag but we still needed another one. It actually took us quite a while to find it but I found the bigger purple bag.

He takes out some special Mickey Dust (which my daughter re-named it Mixie Dust later in the tour – combining Mickey & Pixie together! ROFL! ) and we had to have Faith & Trust (which he questioned one of the gentleman on our tour wondering if he was a Pirate Spy? ). We had to tell them our favorite Disney character. Since I said Eyeore, I was asked “you didn’t bring the rain along with you did you?”

We each got a handful and then had to throw it up in the air and I think say something but I forgot what we said. LOL!

Each child got to hold something and we were to switch after each clue. Our first task was to get down Main Street in one piece! (That is a challenge when going in the middle of summer! Hee Hee! The tour guide said if we made it through that we could make it through anything!). We head toward the castle for our first clue (which I have completely forgotten! Gee, not a ton of spoilers for you huh? :P ), I know we throw Mixie dust on the tip board CM as we go by.

We get toward the front of the castle and I know we read another clue there. We have to act out our favorite Disney characters as we cross over. Mine was easy! DS-5’s Buzz was easy and he got into it. I don’t think most of the people acted out their characters.

I think we head toward the Hidden Mickey that is Awesome – it’s near Buzz Lightyear – I see a CM hand our guide FP’s but I don’t think anyone else noticed because it was during the time we were looking for the hidden Mickey. We find that and head onto our next clue.

It’s about a ball we can push with 3 circles to tell us where to go. There is this giant ball that is in water – I honestly have no clue what exactly it was that pointed to the next clue. I do know we had difficulties with the ball because it stopped turning on us! ROFL!!! We finally got it going again though. This is where we have to walk 30? Paces doing different types of steps. He asked for opinions and leave it to DD to try and get everyone to do these difficult moves (DD’s a gymnast and was trying to get leaps and things in there!). We took giant steps, bunny hopped, skipped (with DS-5 informing me – I don’t know how to skip, so I just told him I would help him and off we went! LOL!) and I’ve forgotten what else.

Onto the next thing – I believe this is where we have to surprise Sonny Eclipse. DS-8 started freaking out on me again about not wanting to do it, etc… you know we had to go INSIDE a place he was unfamiliar with and again it’s the something might jump out at me concept! I just tell him to do it (or not, but just follow us)…we all creep into Cosmic Ray’s and yell “Hi Sonny” and run out.

Time for a break here – we had a longer than usual break because it was only supposed to be 10-15 minutes long. He handed us our FP for Buzz and a few members of our tour went over and rode the Teacups (I don’t think they waited in the regular line, there was one child with a Guest Assistance pass – because otherwise I think it would have taken them a much longer time to ride!)

After our break, we headed to the wishing well. We each got a penny and had to make our wish. That was a really nice spot. We then had to find Cinderella with mice & birds, in rags but to a child she is a Princess (or some wording like that – apparently I was the only child on the tour for this! ;) ). We went inside the castle and looked on the mural there, nope, not what we were looking for. We then went out to the fountain and NO ONE thought that was the correct Cinderella because no one could see the crown but me. After I waited to see if any of the kids on the tour would spot it and none of them did and/or said anything, I spoke up about the crown.

We then head toward Liberty Square and have to play follow the leader with each kid picking out something to act that was written on wooden tokens. The kids liked this. I had completely forgotten about the Conga line we had to do until the kids reminded me at dinner tonight about it! DS-5 really liked doing that. We had to be lions, ballerinas, elephants, I have forgotten what else.

We were looking for Tinkerbell’s prison but she broke out. Then we had to go to the glade – and finally someone knew that Aurora’s other name was Briar Rose :P

At this point my 2 older kids knew it was going to be a character meeting because it was the same place we met Dale earlier. We had to look for the hook around there, we weren’t finding it anywhere. However, we DID find an X on the platform they have there and so everyone decided that X marked the spot and the hook was under there. DD did find the lamppost that looked like a big hook. Nope, none of that is it, so we keep looking.

Peter jumps out from behind some bushes and DS-5 SCREAMS and RUNS away as fast as he can go, the tour guide catches him literally (I happened to have been looking in a totally different area but apparently Peter jumped right out near where DS-5 was!). As soon as I heard the commotion, I flipped around to see DS-5 being caught in the guide’s arm, where he was stopping him from running completely away. The tour guide turns him around and shows him it’s Peter Pan and Wendy and DS-5 then is as calm as can be and goes “Oh” and starts laughing – the guide said he had never seen anyone jump and run so fast for when Peter Pan appears.

So, anyway, Peter Pan wants to know where the hook is. Ummm…we haven’t found it, so he goes to the lightpost that DD had pointed out earlier (after we all tell him we think it’s under the X marks the spot area!) LOL! He just looks at us like we are crazy and is doing the “Duh? It’s right here look up” kind of thing but then realizes Uh-oh, it’s not there.

It is finally spotted though on the back of Wendy’s sash! Apparently all the pirates were after Peter Pan and in all the commotion he forgot what he did with it.

Peter decides that since we got done so quickly we need a reward – I happen to have DS-8’s camera in my hand (GOOD THING! The digital went back to the room in the stroller – it was by sheer luck I had this one on me!).

I get to hold the map and the kids each hold something. DD & DS-8 have to do a pirate yell to decide who will hold the hook. I think DS-8 got it. We had 2 pictures taken.

After another families turn I saw one of them get Peter Pan & Wendy’s autograph – hey, I happen to have the kid’s autograph books. We will have them sign.

After all the pictures, etc… Peter Pan decides we did it so fast that we should go on a ride. It’s a ride we can all go on, etc… It’s Mickey’s Philharmagic and as soon as DS-8 hears this he FREAKS OUT! Peter Pan was so good though, he convinced DS-8 it was fine that he could sit next to him and would use the Map to keep from getting wet. So, after that melt-down, we head on over following Peter Pan who we have to do follow the leader with him! It was so fun. We had 2 little girls with us on the tour and they were holding Wendy’s hand on the way talking to her, etc… they were so cute.

We get to the show and we have to wait for the next showing. We play I spy but DD doesn’t quite get the hot/cold version of it because we don’t do that part of it at our house (oops! Guess I’ve been playing it wrong! :P), so she was confused when Peter was telling her she wasn’t playing right. She really wanted to sit next to Peter Pan and got her wish.

The people who showed up for FP’s were probably quite surprised when they came in and ran into Peter Pan & Wendy.

We get let in and we go to a special area – Peter asks the guide for the map and the guide was completely confused as to why Peter needed the map! ROFL!!! The guide told him he didn’t need it but Peter told him HE did.

We also had a nice conversation with Wendy while waiting. Apparently she is going into 5th grade and since DD just finished 5th grade she was asking DD if it was fun, etc…

We go in to see the show in the front row. My kids are with Peter Pan – DS-8 on one side, then DD & DS-5 on the other, I let Wendy go in before I do and make sure she has kids next to her. So, I can’t really see what is going on too much with DS-8 (hope he doesn’t freak out completely). I do see the water scene coming up and look over there, to see DD’s hands on “speakers” (what ARE they called? I say speakers because that is what they look like but it’s where all the effects come out of – wonder if they have a special name?), so he is happy about that. We are all supposed to cheer when Peter’s part comes on. We do & then Peter crows during the part where he’s on the clock on the screen. (Umm..OK, I need to go re-watch Peter Pan but WHY? Did he do that? Was it to call the Lost Boys? Obviously the crowing has some significance but I’m clueless!).

After the show we gather around toward the exit, and Peter Pan keeps saying he’s convinced Tinkerbell dropped something when she was on the screen. He basically has my boys convinced she drops something at the end.

We get our Magic Moment certificates and we are done with the tour.

We go over to use our FP for Buzz we were given and along the way we see PUSH again. DD hadn’t met PUSH yet but he remembered DS-8 from before. The kids were telling him about taking the Family Magic Tour.

It was definitely a lot of fun and I would do it again, although I’m not so sure how fun it would be doing it a 2nd time, I hadn’t told the kids anything ahead of time about what would happen.

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Always fun to read about the Family Magic Tour. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for the posting. I think my DS will enjoy it. I'll try and book it for our trip right now.

We are doing the Family Magic Tour for the first time in Dec. Our friends have decided to do it with us and I am so excited. I'm not sure how the boys will react but it's good to know how well the CMs handled your DS's fears. I can't wait. Thanks for sharing!

I was wondering how that would work out myself! I *knew* what the attraction was going to be and after our other tour with the same attraction and his reaction, I had already formulated a plan in my mind. I was just going to hang in the back of the theatre with DS-8 but before I could convince DS that we could work it out and as I started telling him we would work it out so he didn't get wet, and him still complaining to Peter Pan "I don't want to do that, etc..." Peter convinced him with the map idea and after a couple minutes was happy. DS-8 liked the rest of the show so that wasn't an issue, it was just the water part. I had no idea it was going to *be* an issue until after our "Stitch" ride incident, so I never gave it a thought beforehand.

I don't think I recalled reading about water before! Only about the aromas, so I was unprepared about it during the first tour but I think we got way less wet in the front row than when we were in the middle.

I totally understand about the water. That came as a surprise the first time we saw Philharmagic. DS3 still won't were the 3-D glasses and freaks during the water part. I usually cover his face. Which reminds me I need to tell my friends about it since their kids have never been. I'm glad you guys had fun. The more I read about it the more excited I get. This is a once in a lifetime trip for our friends so I want there to be lots of magic.

Did you feel that you were able to participate and didn't feel as though you were stuck behind the camera getting all the good shots?

You know, I was kind of bad on that! I was so involved in everything going on that I honestly didn't *take* any pictures except the posed ones at the end, that the guide used our camera to take pictures of.

I'm not sure if I took any later or not (I think I might have taken some while they were signing the autograph books!).

This was our "once in a lifetime" trip too (although I'm trying to plot to go again when DS-1 is older because he won't remember any of this - so I don't count it as his once in a lifetime trip! LOL!) and I think because of that and I hadn't been since I was 5, I was just as involved as the kids for everything and wasn't even thinking about taking pictures at the time. More being completely part of it, etc...
