If a kid is spoiled, is it the kid's fault or the parent's?

It kind of just popped into my mind. I mean, the kid could not want anything but the parents give them a lot, or the kid could want everything and the parents give the kid what they want because the parents feel bad otherwise.

What do you think? I think it's the parents' fault.

I'm a strong believer that any issue had with children is the parents fault-even behavioral ones.

If a child is standing in a store and asking for candy, the parent has the ability to say no. If the child throws a fit about it, so what? Are they going to get what ever they want as an adult by throwing a fit? No. So they shouldn't as a child either.

I totally agree.. i once threw a fit in Disney.. about wanting the EXACT lion king plate set I ALREADY had at home...... apparently I was screaming and crying as if someone was kidnapping me.. and my dad was about to give in too lol but my moms so tight shes like "NO!!!!! she has that EXACT same one!!" lol

If they would have said yes.. I would have done it again.

It starts at a very early age i think. but i think its allll parents.

This topic comes up a lot in my house.
My parents consider me and my sister spoiled.
My sister gets whatever she wants. My sister loves webkinz. She has about 70 webkinz.
Yesterday she wanted a webkinz and my mom let her get it because my mom lets my sister get whatever she wants. My dad doesn't usually let us get everything we want but we usually get at least one thing each when we go out.
I try not to be spoiled, but my parents get us whatever we want.

Parents.
As someone put, the parent doesn't have to say yes. A lot of parents give in because they hate to hear their children cry, or they're embarassed of an public hissy fit.
My mother used to carry me out of stores, screaming and kicking because she wouldn't buy me a Barbie or something. People would stare, but she knew she meant well by not giving me waht I want. There were better things for her to spend her money on. Plus I already had a lot of Barbies.

I saw a kid the other day has an absolute meltdown because his parents wouldn't buy him a sucker. They knew he didn't like the kind of sucker, that if they bought it he'd lick it once and throw it away.

All kids get spoiled by their parents in some way. I'm spoiled, I'll be the first to tell you.

It's the parents fault, but it's part of having a child, you want the thing to be happy.

It's definitley the parents fault.
They don't HAVE to say yes.

I think that it's definitely the parents' fault, or whoever they live with/are around. The kids have no choice if their parents buy them everything they want.
Definitely the parents' fault.

Yeah, it's definitely the parent's fault if a child is spoiled. They have no control over what they get.

But it's never the aunt's fault if she spoils her nephew a little...:rolleyes1
Hehehehe..

I also believe that it comes down on the parents and them always giving into they kids spoiled fits. I have done it before in stores and my Mom just ignores me and doesn't play into it. I eventually calmed down because she wouldn't give into it or even pay attention much to it.

It's the parent's fault. If they don't know how to say no to their kid, they're just going to keep getting what they want no matter how bratty they are.

(i.e, people on my Super Sweet 16.)

Those kids on My Super Sweet 16 make me sick. I just want to slap them all.

I'm...erm...spoiled...

But it's not anyone's fault really.

Actually, it's the fault of bad DNA.

See, IF:

If I didn't have this disorder
I wouldn't be nearly as spoiled
Because I'd have siblings
Because my parents didn't WANT any more kids after me, BECAUSE of this stupid disorder
So, being the only child, I get spoiled

It's the parents' fault.
They should try to show their children that they can't have everything they see. By not doing so, the child will only think that they can do it again because it doesn't seem to bother the parents (to them.)

I was spoiled. Simply because my mom wated my sister and I to be happy. and we were. I never ever begged for anything because I knew it was rude. Birthdays and Christmases were already dream-like.

I was spoiled a little bit when I was younger. That's because I was the ONLY girl in my family, and I was the youngest too. So I got all new toys, clothes, etc and most of my family, especially my grandparents, loved to get me stuff.
But I wasn't affected by it. As I got older, I didn't get everything I wanted and they didn't make a fuss over me. So I'm not spoiled.

Ugh....I really hate watching that show.

They make me sick, and I just want to beat their heads in sometimes. lol

its mostly the really really spoiled kids' parents fault. the parents gave in. its not good getting whatever you want all the time, cuz then in the real world, you will be in debt before you can blink.
