UPDATE - Post #5

We are headed to Disney next week and would like to go to Splittsville on Sunday night. I checked on reserving a lane and it is a $10/person up charge making the lane cost $30/person (includes shoes) for 1.5 hours. Did I mention there are 5 of us? :faint:

Does anyone know if it is even necessary to reserve a lane? Or what is the average wait time? Any info will be appreciated. We don't have anywhere else to be that night, so I'm leaning towards not making a reservation. But, if someone has experienced showing up at 7:00 and not being able to bowl until 10:30, THEN I might change my mind.

Just as a bit of explanation as to why BOWL at Disney, my DS12 does not LOVE Disney (he doesn't like the rides and has never been a fan of characters), so this is our way of throwing him a bone, so to speak.

Thanks so much!

1) One never knows if a lane will open up or how busy it will be.
2) If you really want to bowl, it might be worthwhile to reserve.
3) Another factor is whether there are other things for guests to do on THAT Sunday.

We have found Splitsville to be crowded on Sundays during football season because it's become the second best place to watch the NFL in WDW (first being ESPN Club). We were there late October last year and went to Splitsville for an early dinner on a Sunday, and had about a 20 minute wait for a table. The bar area and all the lanes were full and they were mostly football fans. Since you'll be there later on, it may not be as big of a factor but it might also depend on who is playing in the Sunday night game as well.

I'm going to Splitsville between Christmas and New Years with my family of four (kids 18 and 22). I absolutely made a reservation since I figure with the kids
not home (college and law school) all the time, it will be a fun family activity to do together. It is something we know we want to do so I made a reservation.
If you are doing this for your son and know he will enjoy it, then just go ahead and call and reserve the lane. We are staying at SSR and I've made it our dinner too. We will bowl, drink and eat. Let us know what you decide to do.

I did decide to reserve the lanes in advance. I'm not entirely sure it was *necessary* as the place was not crowded by far. But, it was worth the peace of mind that we wouldn't have to wait, especially after a day of being in the park. In the end, the truth is we didn't spend significantly more there than we would have spent on food and bowling in Atlanta.

The food was very tasty and the service was friendly. We shared the nachos and loaded fries; the nachos were especially good.

I loved the way the facility was laid out - clusters of bowling lanes in various areas vs. one long line of bowling lanes. I think it made it a little more, I don't know, personal or intimate? However you would describe it, I liked it a lot better than the traditional bowling alley.

My entire family had a great time, and I'd highly recommend it if you are looking for a non-park type diversion!

Splitsville is, hands down, our favorite place in WDW. The food is fantastic, as is the service. And, like you said, the way they have it laid out, it feels more personal..

I am glad you enjoyed it, too!
