hello Friends!!!!:thumbsup2 I was just wondering how many people split their stay into two diferent DVC resorts:cloud9: Could you share your experience and let me know if it was an easy process or were their problems. Thanks:angel:

I don't think that there will be much of a problem splitting your stay! The cast members always go out of their way to make it an easy process!!:) I see that you are a newbie here on the boards!!! Welcome home!!!! Your use of the smiley symbols certainly make me smile!!!!!! Again, WELCOME HOME friend!!!!!:lovestruc

In the four trips in the last 2 a half years we have never spent our time at one resort. :cool1::cool1: We love them all because they are so different,:thumbsup2 and our usual pattern is to stay 2 to 4 nights then move. With that said we have not stayed at Vero Beach, Hilton Head, or SS. :confused3 But we like the ability to go to the parks as well as sit around the pools so that leaves out VB & HH and we will be staying at the Tree houses this Oct-Nov trip.:banana:
We have rented a car on all but one of the trips :yay::yay:and with or without the car it is easy to get your luggage from one resort to another. Just call bell services and they pick it up and deliver to your new resort. Just beware you need to register at each resort when you arrive and you won't get your luggage until you call down from your room. :scared1::scared1:

Have fun, :goodvibeslife is very short and nothing nor anybody can guarantee you the next breath.:sad2:

Oh and Welcome Home!!!!

Thanks Mom to Four:happytv: But not welcome home yet!!!! Im only in my ROFR stage!:lmao: But thank you for the info:scared1: I hope others friends will share with me as well!!!:upsidedow

But not welcome home yet!!!! Im only in my ROFR stage!

Good luck with ROFR - I know that those few weeks are almost as long as waiting until you were able to drive a car. Hang in there, its worth the wait!

We've done it and it isn't difficult at all. We travel by car so either DH or I will go over to 2nd resort on that checkin day early in morning (around 7 AM) and take care of all the checkin formalities there. Then we check out of 1st resort by 11 AM and we usually pack our luggage into our car and if we're in a hurry to get to parks we drive to 2nd resort to park & leave it in trunk & hop Disney transportation but if we're moving at leisurely pace that day we'll unpack trunk and have bell services hold luggage until we return later. Sometimes we've gotten lucky and our villa was immediately available at 2nd resort in early AM :goodvibes, then we just bring luggage right there.

As other posters here have said, if you don't have car or don't want to bother transporting luggage yourself at all just leave it with bell services at resort when you check out and they will transport it over to resort you're moving to.

Hope you get good news on your contract & we get to WELCOME you home real soon :thumbsup2
{ just noticed you're NY'er too :-) !! }

We've split our stay once before and are doing it again this August. Some will say it's a hassle but we like staying in 2 different resorts. We would only consider it for trips of 7 or more nights. We also stay in 1BRs or 2BRs so I usually wash our laundry in our villa the night before our switch then put it in the suitcases instead of back in the drawers. Our longer trips have a resort/pool day in them so we make that the day we switch over. We wear our bathing suits and bring a carry bag or two - the rest of the luggage gets sent over through Bell Services (if you have a car just take them yourself :)). We hang out by the pool until the room is ready. We really enjoy it! Good luck with your ROFR :goodvibes.

We don't mind doing split stays - particularly during the holidays. This year we're doing 6 nights at VWl followed by 6 nights at SSR. I won't split for less than 3 nights. We never have a car and are at the mercy of Disney transportation. As soon as bell services picks up our luggage, we head to the next resort. It can take a while until you see your luggage again, so prepare for the day.

Here's an early :welcome: Home and pixiedust: for passing ROFR.

We often do split stays and really enjoy them (almost like 2 vacations)! :rotfl: We are doing VWL for 3 nights then AKLV for 6 nights in July and are really looking forward to it! We drive though so it is no problem for us to change resorts!

We are staying for 2 weeks in August and we are moving 3 times!
First we will be at VWL for 5 nights. Then at BLT for 2 nights. Then we check in to AKV for the last 7 nights! Sounds crazy, but we want to try out different resorts!

I've never asked family with children to move, except for VB, and that's worked out. With adults, I often enjoy 2 -3 resort trips, and there's no problem, Disney has always done a great job moving the luggage.

We are experiencing 2 resorts and a cruise between them on this trip next week, so this will be a unique experience for us. I was surprised that the family wanted to have one day after the cruise at WDW and I couldn't pass up going to Kidani!

Bobbi:goodvibes

We did a split stay last fall between BWV and AKV. It worked out just fine. Everything was moved for us, and it was as smooth as it could be. We'll be doing so again next January, but then it will be between THV and AKV. We'll have my folks along, and a car - so we'll just do it all ourselves that time.

In our pre-DVC days we also did this a couple of times, and experienced no problems then either.

We always split our stays, both to conserve points and to try the different resorts. We've stayed at all the WDW DVC properties now except AKV and love them all! We always have a rental car and move our own luggage, but I'm sure it would be just as easy for Bell Services to do it for you. We usually check in early at the second resort and if the room isn't ready we have Bell Services store our luggage, and they'll refrigerate food for you too.

Enjoy!

We always do split stays, it is easy to do. I get up early, pack up almost everything and head to the new resort. DH and the kids get ready, pack up the rest of our stuff, and call Bell Services. We all meet up at a park that morning.

Did it once and didn't like it. The switch wasted time and we never felt like we settled in at the first resort. Also didn't like being without a room for 5-6 hours.

We do it all the time because we love the atmosphere at AKV but the convenience of being in the BWV/BC area. Now that the kids aren't napping it's very easy because we go to the parks in the morning and then back to the new resort's pool before check in.

We love split stays, it just seems like taking different vacations. Just got back for a 10 day trip with a 6 month old, we did CSR (2 nights), AKV 1bd (2 nights), BWV 1bd (4 nights) and BWV studio (2 nights). Was it challenging? Of course! Did we enjoy it? Absolutely! You just have to be organized, I packed 2 large suitcases, the first one we used for the first 4 nights and the second one for the last 6 nights. We also used bell services to transfer our luggage and drove to our resort to check in. The only time our room was not ready was at BWV when we transfered from AKV, we just walked to Epcot, had lunch and did a few rides. For our next trip in September, we are doing 6 nights at WLV and 3 nights at BLT  I can't wait!

I want to thank all of my Disney friends for all you wonderful Input and info on this matter>:banana: It sounds pretty easy to do a split stay and my Minnie Mouse and I are going to try and do it on our first DVC trip.:scared1: Thats if we pass the ROFR:cheer2::cheer2: So keep your fingers crossed for us and thanks for all the pixie dust, i think it will help!!pirate::cool2: All the info was very helpful

I agree with tjkraz. We split a stay once between SSR and BWV. I also felt that the switch wasted time. I felt like we couldn't settle into SSR because I was constantly thinking "Don't unpack too much". We also didn't like being without a room for 5-6hrs. And this was before we had kids. Now with two toddlers, I can't even imagine it. It would add unnecessary stress for me. I'd rather settle in, fully unpack, grocery shop without worrying about packing up perishibles in a few days. Sure, I love all the DVC resorts too, but as a DVC member, I know we will be back to experience another resort in our next stay :)
