Has anyone ever had trouble splitting the bill at restraunts there are 4 of us and we are a party of 2 and then 2 of one. Do you think this will be a problem? I was wondering if we needed to make sure we had cash for an easy split.......

ANyone have info on this?

Last year DH and I went with another couple, and we always asked for 2 checks. We never had a problem.

Yep, they'll split the bill when we go with friends. On the check, they separate the food by "seat," so it's not too difficult to split it

We've only had one issue, once when we were at Hollywood and Vine, the server wouldn't apply the DDE to our friends' bill unless it was paid for as one check. But that was an isolated incident.

Just be sure to tell them up front.. We were at the Prime time once and there was a party of 10 that at the end said they wanted the bill on 4 checks... they did it but it took them along time and they could not stress enough that the party should have told them at the beginning!!

Thank you everyone for making me feel better on this isusue. I'll make sure to let it be known that we are splitting the bill before we order

I do know that, but we've eaten many times with friends and split the checks and had no problem with applying the discount to their check as well as ours.

But, it is good to state the official rule, so people do not have expectations and assume that the discount would be applied on all checks for one dining card.

We have a LARGE group of 14! We have PS for dinner only! I made PS for buffets where I know the prices. I plan on having everyone pay me in cash before the meal and that way we are prepared afterwards. We have the DDE card and will use that to the fullest extent of the law! ;) Gratuity will already be included in our checks because of our party size! If there are differences to figure out we will do that after we leave the restaurant! :teacher:

Not trying to start an argument here, but if you are good enough friends to go out to eat together, why arent you good enough friends to just settle up the bill yourselves. just wondering.

I certainly don't think it's a case of "not being good enough friends to just settle up the bill yourselves". Some people prefer not to have to carry cash around in the park, or would rather get the points using a credit card.

It can also be difficult to have the right amount of change to give your 'friends'. Many times where I have dinner with some of my best friends, we will ask for seperate bills because (if you warn them ahead of time) it doesn't take that much extra time for seperate bills to be made up and it saves a lot of hassle after the meal.
