This is the 1st time we will be travelling to WDW with another family. Does anyone know if the restaurants will split the bill between our families? As of now, we are both not going to be using the dining plan but I have the Tables in Wonderland dining discount and I was wondering if they would split the bill for us and also apply my 20% dining discount to each (since the Wonderland discount is for up to 9 people at your table).

Two answers. . .yes, they will split the bill and NO the tables in wonderland can only be applied to the cardholder's check.

Everything on TIW has to be on one check. It does not matter who pays the check, so if the family sizes and expenses are similar you can alternate who pays the check.

1) This method works well.
2 Especially
. . . if it is a cheap meal when you pay
. . . if it is an expensive meal when others pay

:rotfl:

We used to travel with another family, 6 in ours and 4 in theirs, we'd divide the check by the number of people and than multiply that number by the number in our family. Worked great.

We've never had a problem getting a check split at WDW. We always mention that we'd like separate checks when ordering.

But the original post asked out splitting and using the TiW card. With that discount card the discount can only be applied to one check,

We were just there last week and can give you some updated advice on TIW.
We travel with my Sister/Husband. We always have got 1 check and just split the bill down the middle iwth 2 credit cards at the end. Its our way. We have never in all our visits had a problem doing this with the TIW (or disney dining experience card) UNTIL this visit.

We were told rudely by the waitress at LTT that we could not use 2 forms to pay...only I could pay since the card was in my name. We argued (we have card for a couple years and NEVER heard this). A rude manager then came out and was rude/confrontational from the onset. He informed us that there is a "new" rule that says no splitting...unless cash. They could not take our room key and theirs...then they got a % they didn't deserve:sad2: it was so embarassing and frustrating to argue with a DISNEY manager. No pixie dust or disney magic at this meal. We paid for the whole bill and left. I told the manager that this was the first time on the trip we had heard this and he said well the others shouldn't be doing it. I said shouldn't you all do the same thing...well anyway...thats how it went.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

that was 1 meal the whole week we were there...we used the TIW at every single restaurant and used our 2 room keys to split the bill. WE did give the TIW card early to get the discounted bill first. But not ONE person gave us any issue...no problem at our other 10 meals.

oh....they also added 18% tip to every bill and we were a party of 4. this was new to us....but no biggie.

so...just letting you know how it was for us last week. Be prepared just in case. stupid I know...but you can get the discount for the whole table but you can't let anyone else pay....ugh.

Using TiW an 18% gratuity is automatically added based on the pre-discount price (except 20% at V&A). But then tax is computed after the discount.

I had to come back and add to my story from LTT and our rude waitress...
the bill issue came last but when we sat down we asked for rolls and apple butter (its our favorite and we love going there just to eat it) We know that you have to ask for rolls at lunch as they are request only now and if you ask nicely they dig out the apple butter for you too.
so you know...this is a 6 yr tradition....first day at MK, eat at LTT for lunch. Years people....we always eat the bread.

so the waitress says "we don't serve bread at lunch, but maybe I can find some" ugh (she is soooo put out at this point). We also ask for the apple butter as its our favorite and its part of our LTT tradition;) waitress says "ugh...don't you know you can buy it at the store...its just smuckers....ugh....:scared1:

ok...yeah we know that....but apple butter is not common unless you live in the South...but anyway...its the freakin point....we told her its our favorite, we told her its Disney tradition, etc. We were all just jaw dropping shocked at her weird and rude attitude. This is WDW...not dennys....you know. Its part of the Disney magic.

oh...she was just a peach....we asked for MORE bread after we got 1 roll each and she never did bring it. Then when we were paying....she says well we only had 3 rolls and I didn't think you would only want 3 to fight over. ummmm.ok.....it was just so not disney and so not friendly.

First they stopped announing your family and what territory you are from (we love that too)
Then they stopped serving apple butter (but they still had it)
then this.....

crappy attitude form the waitress and the manager  it was so much like the crud you deal with in real life and so not Disney...I know it sounds petty but we didn't return for our 2nd ADR at LTT later that week and we won't be back next trip. It just took the fun out of going there...you know.

well I had to vent...thanks:goodvibes

They will do seperate checks. I hope your family is not like mine:scared1:

We ate at Tonys, I had a salad and a tea, how was my share $40.

Have to love family
