I've seen a number of posts about splitting stays between resorts. How do you move between resorts? What are some of the benefits?

We split our recent WDW stay between the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Beach Club. We took a taxi from AK to BC. You can also have your first resort transfer your luggage to your second resort and take the Disney bus yourself. The taxi cost about $10 and was worth it for the speed and convenience.

With the exception of this upcoming trip...we LOVE and always want to switch resorts. For us...we only get down there every 3-5 years or so and switching resorts is a way to experience more of them on fewer trips. Even though they had...don't know if they still have...a service that moves your bags from resort to resort for free, we always moved them ourselves and found it easy as pie. Never a hint of a hassle. We HIGHLY recommend switching!!! We always do rent a car though. We go to Seaworld every time we're there and love the freedom a car of our own gives us.

So in short we've been to 7 resorts in 3 trips...not bad huh?! What a way to go!

We're going to try it this year. After we get off the Magic, we are going to the WL for 3 days where we will relax and go to Fort Wilderness. 2nd day go to MK, 3rd day go to Downtown Disney. They go to AKL for two nights. 1st day relax, then 2nd day go to AK and finish up with Fantasmic at MGM. Then leave for a few days to visit relatives and wash clothes, then back to WDW at the Dolphin for two nights. 1st night go to Boardwalk and YC, BC, BW. 2nd night Epcot and maybe shoot over to MGM for 10:30 Fantasmic(it is scheduled for two shows that night). Next day go to Contempory for two nights. 4th of July relax then go to the Poly to watch the fireworks from the beach and the 2nd night, our last, go to MK and walk back to CR after fireworks over the castle. Then :( :( back to reality.

Hopefully this won't be too much moving around. We have never tried this before. We usually go to one hotel and establish a home away from home:). Our daughters are older now and we hope it will be fun to experience the different resorts. The only one we have been to before was CR about 17 years ago.

We are also going to switch resorts on our next stay. POR to FW Cabins. Can't wait, we haven't stayed at either.:)

Hi! No hassle at ALL!! We did this last week! Switched between AKL concierge and ASMu! Worked like a charm!!!! We had our car so we drove ourselves, but have heard lots of positive things about wdw moving your luggage! Go for it! You get to experience lots of different theming!!!

I've done this twice before (Port Orleans FQ to the Beach Club & Wilderness Lodge to POFQ) and have another split scheduled for this November. The other trips were 5 days at each resort (10 day stay). The trip in November is for 16 days!!! I'm splitting this stay between the Caribbean Beach (1st time staying there) and, of course, POFQ. Both transfers, I had bell services transfer my bags. The trip in November, I will probably grab a cab, since it took some time for my bags to get from one resort to the other. During longer stays, it's nice to try another resort. For the WL & the BC, this was my first time staying at those, so it gave me time to check them out.

We will be splitting our stay between CBR (7/26-7/31) and WL (7/31-8/4) so we can't wait either. We will be driving to WDW in a conversion van, so we will probably move everything ourselves...!!I can't wait!!!

Countdown to WDW:
2 months - 19 days - 12 hours - Yippee!!!!

We love to split our stay! Each resort is special in it's own right, and this gives us a chance to experience more of them (although the Contemporary does seem to be a common theme recently).

And, on our last trip, there was another advantage. We had booked 5 nights at the Contemporary (at a great rate) and we decided to use the UMP that trip. Rather than drop a night at either end, we went to the Caribbean Beach Resort for our first night, went nice and early to the Contemporary and started our UMP's, and then our last night at Port Orleans Riverside.
