Splitting stay between Poly/Swan

Hi All! We have booked 5 nights (2/21 - 2/26) at the Poly Concierge for our family of 5. That's me, DH, and 3 DD's (3, 20mos, 2mos). Unfortunately, some financial circumstances have changed and I was considering splitting my stay now. I was thinking of doing 2 nights at the Swan and 3 nights at the Poly. I've never stayed at the S/D and I read that they do not transfer your luggage to another WDW resort. Has anyone ever done this and if so, what was the easiest way. We will not have a car. DD's are of no help since they're very young. The only thing I could think of was calling a cab or using WDW transportation. Any thoughts? Thanks all for your help! :Pinkbounc

We split our stay between the Poly and the Swan in Aug. We did the Poly garden view for 7 days on the FTP then 3 days at the swan. We had dh and one ds take a taxi with the luggage from the poly to the swan while the other 2 ds and I took a bus from the mk stop to the swan. By the time we got there from the bus, dh and ds already were checked in , had a room, luggage in room and dh met us in the lobby while ds was already watching tv in the room. I think they will take the luggage for a big tip. The said its not an official hotel, but we "can" do it etc. Our luggage got lost once from the poly to yacht club so I just didnt want the hassles this time. But your kids seem so little. That would involve carting strollers, diaper bags etc. Even if you took the 3 year old with you, there would most likely not be a car seat in the taxi etc. Just tip and have them transfer your luggage. If I was your dw, I don't think I would not appreciate being with 3 kids by myself etc. and your room might not even be ready etc. Good luck.

You lose a bit of park time switching resorts when you have a relatively short stay at each place. If your room isn't ready for a long time, it could be pretty awkward. I would either switch to Swan for the entire stay or stay in a regular non-concierge room for the entire stay. When my kids were that age, there would have been a huge amount of stuff to move.

If you do switch, a cab would be a good choice and probably not expensive. :D

Thanks luvmarypoppins for your suggestion. I went ahead and booked 2 nights at the Dolphin on Hotwire. Too good for me to pass up for only $120 a night! We decided that we would just have DH take a cab over to the Poly with the luggage and check-in. Then me and the girls will walk through EPCOT to the monorail and take that over to the Poly. That will be a ride in itself for them! Will be a little cumbersome with all the "gear" and 3 little kids, but I can think of worse things! Thanks again. :sunny:

We did this over Christmas. We spent 12/20-12/24 at the Swan, then moved to the Poly on 12/24. They told us they would move our luggage for us, but since we were going to Epcot for the whole day, I didnt really want to go back to the hotel late at night and have to settle in then, if I didnt really have to. We called the Poly before we checked out of the Swan to see if our room was ready. It was so we called bell services to get our bags and a cab. I had planned to take the kids on the bus, but somehow we all fit in the cab, even with the luggage.
So, we drove over, checked in and had our luggage in our room probably by 11:00. It would have been earlier, but we were taking it easy that morning. It worked out very well.
