It had never ever occurred to me to split a meal. Duh! When I am at Disney I am sometimes overwhelmed with eating all meals out, and I am really trying to be good about overeating, so......

My question is when you split a meal do they give you 2 plates? Do you tell the waitress you are sharing? Do they frown upon this? I'm sorry if these are silly questions but I'm not really sure about all this.

Just want to make sure I'm using proper meal splitting etiquette. Thanks for being patient. :earsgirl:

I think sharing is VERY common in Disney. I would just order an extra plate instead of them splitting the entree back in the kitchen. I always feel like I am less hassle and most of the time I eat 1/3 and my hubby eats 2/3. Or if we are sharing with kids, I eat more than they do.
As for the waitress reactions.....don't worry about it, if you feel they are being negative...ignore it!
We do always try to tip a little extra as we are getting service for 4 people even if we are only ordering two entrees, but if they aren't nice about us slplitting, we do not leave the extra.
But, I think most of the time it has been positive every time!
It is a very smart thing to do - sharing meals! :)

we split meal quite often. no problem, but as mentioned we always tip as if we had purchased 2 entrees. our son has worked in the restaurant industry as a waitperson and we really know the importance of a tip. :earboy2:

We split often, they have always split it in the back for us so we both get the beautiful presentation of the meals - never had a negative response to it. We do always tip as if we both ordered 2 full meals.

DH and I split often both at WDW and around home (I also split often with a girlfriend I work with) and don't have a problem at all. We usually tell the waitperson that we are sharing and it is usually split in the back. Some restaurants charge an extra plate fee, which is just fine by me since they are putting in all of the other resources for having a second guest. I don't remember if any of the Disney restaurants charge an extra plate fee, I don't think we've run into it though. Often times by sharing an entree we are able to try an appetizer and share a dessert - we wouldn't have room if we each had an entree. :)

We split several meals during our May trip. We were always given extra plates without asking. Off the top of my head, I know we split some items at WC, Kona, and MM. You aren't made to feel funny about sharing at all!!
