Splitting meal - 1/2 OOP/ 1/2 DDP?

Okay - so we have all our ADRs but dh and I have one additional breakfast while the kids are on a pirate cruise. We were going to pay OOP for our meal at Cindy's but the kids will have extra TS credits. Can dh and I pay for ours OOP and use their TS credits for their meals? Do we have to tell them that before we pay or just tell our waiter at the time?
