splitting dining plan?

i must really be an idiot..i've searched these boards and can not find what i am looking for.

Would like to know how to ggo about splitting the dining plan. We have a 7 day trip planned - we want the standard dining plan (one CS, one TS daily) for all days except days 2 & 3 - on days 2 & 3 we want the deluxe dining plan.

so, all you vets out there...how can i do this? whom do i need to call? what do i need to tell them? and based on your experience, what else do i need to be aware? what was your experience doing this?

I don't think it is do-able unless you split your stay, in which case you would need to buy seperate park tickets for each part of the trip or purchase an AP. Your better off just paying for any of the extra meals OOP. It will work out cheaper.

Im no expert but I'm thinking you can't do that, the only time I have heard of anyone having a different DP for part of a trip is when they have a split stay at two different resorts. You could just pay OOP for the extra TS you want on those few days.

Are you staying at your DVC resort on points? Then yes, you can do a segmented dining plan. There are many threads on the DVC planning board about it. I'm considering doing it for my upcoming stay; just not sure I want to hassle with it (many reports of it not running smoothly). You would book this through Member Services.

If you are staying on a cash reservation, no, this is not an option.

You can't do this at all unless you are on a DVC reservation made through DVC member services. And as noted, on the DVC board there are several threads about it that go into detail.


There's reports that if you divide your reservation into three segments, with dining plans on each segment, you will have to go to the front desk of the resort twice to pick up new key cards. And each time you go there, and pick up new cards, it heightens the possibility that something will go wrong. There's a number of reports on the DVC board of getting the new keys only to find out they wouldn't open the door and another trip to the front desk was needed.
