Splitting between WDW resort and DVC resort

I'm wondering how the dining plan and park tickets work when splitting between wdw and dvc resorts. Does anyone know if you can still get the dining plan and tickets for the entire stay?

If you start your stay at the WDW resort, the park ticket will carry over to the DVC portion of your stay. (ie if you have 3 days at a WDW resort and 4 days DVC, you can get a 7 day park ticket). The dining plan will be separate for each portion of your stay.

If you start your stay at a DVC resort, the dining plan will be separate for each portion of your stay and you will need to purchase at least a one day park ticket from Disney as part of the package.

To get the DDP on non DVC stays you have to stay 3 days minimum and reserve that as part of your cash stay. Say you had a 3 day cash non DVC stay followed by a 4 day DVC stay. You'd have to get and pay for each portion separately. You'd also have to use each portion during the time of THAT stay. The day you change over would be the only day you could use the plan from each reservation. Not a big deal with a little planning.
