Splitting a reservation?

Is it possible to split a DVC reservation into 2 parts? Like if I had a 7-night reservation, could I call Member Services and get them to split it into a 3-night and a 4-night (same room type but perhaps different people on the room), or would I need to modify the 7-night to a 3-night and then book the 4-night?

I called and asked that question recently and was told no. I had a reservation, but wanted to book a cruise in the middle, so wanted to split it in 2 for now then modify each later if the cruise went through. The CM said he would be afraid he would lost the second half. I ended up dropping some days and rebooking the days I needed.

What would be the purpose of doing that?

It’s actually similar to the PP. I’m doing a cruise bookended by 2- 2-night stays. I was able to get an AKV Value studio that would cover the whole trip in case the cruise falls through. If the cruise does happen it would be easier to just split the stay into 2 parts and then cancel the middle days

You can't do that. You can drop nights at the beginning or at the end, but that's all.

Yes, I’ve tried to split my reservation, but CM was afraid we would lose my last night. I wanted Friday removed into a reservation by itself. Since then I’ve booked my reservation for October differently. I book Saturday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday. So in October if we decide to do a 4 night cruise, I only have to modify my first reservation and drop Monday to Thursday, then we get get off the ship Friday morning we can check in again. But if we don’t cruise, we still have all of our days and can call to have both reservations combined.

So to guarantee your dates must you book 2 reservations at your home resort at 11 months out? We are going in may 2020 so for example I book may 1st-4th and the 4th-10th at my home and at 7 months try to modify one of them for a different resort. If you cannot get other resort with they merge the two reservations?

Sounds like a good plan

You should put a different name as the lead guest on the reservations.
Like John Smith for the first one
Jane Smith for the second one

That way, they don't merge it right away before you try to change one to a different resort.

I didn't think of that thank you
