For upcoming trip, just snagged a bonus day @ BWV, before the main portion of our trip @ AKV during the first week of July. GD had been lobbying for it, waitlist never budged.

Just realized that I’ve never done a split trip between DVC resorts. Have many times between CRO, then DVC, just always officially checked out of the first before presenting myself at the 2nd.

at the risk of overthinking it, do I have to be physically checked out of the first reservation before checking into the 2nd resort?

Idea crossed my mind, that I could possibly drive to AK very early in the AM while rest of family is still snoozing on checkout morning day.

would pick up a few groceries on the way, then drop them & bulk of luggage at AK bell services. Know the room wouldn’t be ready anyway as such a busy time. Then, return to BW, rejoin family & check out. Goal to staying onsite for some pool time @ BW, until we head into Epcot in the early afternoon. Would shower up at resort with a day bag that I’d stow in the rental’s trunk.

as long as AK bell services is good to hold my items, is this ok?

would it matter if I stop at the AK check in desk or not?

I was told we can just drop our bags at the front desk and they will move them to the second resort. Downside is "when" they will arrive - if we had a car, I'd just toss bags in the car before leaving for the park in the morning. I am going to put a tracker in at least one bag so we can tell when it gets to resort #2 ;)

You don’t need to officially but I find that when I do ask the front desk at the first resort to physically check me out, I have better luck getting room ready texts for the second.

But, more often than not, we do use Lyft to resort two to drop off our bags and refrigerated items so let them know we are there so they can also note and check us in..even though we did online check in.

yes, believe they still will transfer the bags. Since we always have a rental & I want to grab water, soda & snacks, thot I could just get it all done in the AM.

PS love our trackers

Didn’t dawn on me that I do online checkin when I add the CC for charges. Duh.

I will remember to stop at the BW desk and ask to be checked out on way to the pool.

new Q:

can we use the facilities in the BW gym to change before the parks even if checked out?

Yes. The band should still work.

We are doing a split trip in less than 3 weeks. First 2 nights at BLT then 4 nights at BWV. Our plan is to pack our car and go to the MK in the morning on check out day. Family wants to have a late lunch at Olivia's so we will go there then hopefully our room at BWV will be ready.

We’ve done that in the past. have found the suitcase contents in that strong sun light/heat, often feel a bit “steamy” when unpacking it later. Will have cruise clothing along, anything to avoid ironing anything lol. Really would be afraid to leave food in it for any length of time.

Same. Ruined pretty much anything liquid we had. Melted makeup, etc.

I know that sounds obvious, but we really didn't think much of it until we unpacked later.

I would definitely just drive your things over in the AM for Bell Services to keep. Luggage transfer between resorts usually starts around 1PM, but is not available for pickup at new resort until 3 at the earliest, and that depends on how much luggage they have to transfer in any given day. I usually don't even call down for it until5 or so, even if I have my room assignment.

I never even thought of that. I will make sure we have a cooler just for personal hygiene products.

Yes, your plan will work, and they will refrigerate your groceries. You have to drop the items off, as opposed to transfer, to get them refrigerated.

I transfer every trip, sometimes multiple times, and nothing "melts" but I guess I don't send anything that would melt.

We checked out of Vero Beach and went to OKW. We lucked out, considering the drive and stopping for lunch, that we were able to go right to our room without delay.
