Split Stays - how do you price/book?

Hi,

We currently have a 8 day/7night reservation at AKL for early August. The way crowds are projected and how I booked our ADRs, we'll be spending the 2nd half of our vacation between MK and EPCOT so I was thinking about doing a split stay at a monorail resort. It's DH, me and DD (23.5 mos) and while we are renting a car and plan to drive to the parks while staying at AKL, I thought it would be better to take the monorail directly to the resort (rather then the parking lot) or if at CR walk to MK.

I just called Disney to see if it was possible to retain the summer discount and to quote out the change but the CM said she couldn't quote me unless I actually changed my reservation. I think it might have been the agent and not a Disney issue since she included the WL on of the list of monorail resorts.

For those that have done split resorts - or wanted to change an existing resort - have you been able to get a quote without going ahead with the changes? Would you do a split stay?

We can afford AKL for the entire stay and can afford an AKL/Monorail Resort split but cannot afford an entire 7 night stay at a monorail resort.

Disney doesn't recognize split stays. You would need 2 reservations. So you would have to shorten your stay at AKL. Then book a new stay in the MK/Epcot area.

Maybe I'm not understanding what you mean. That sounds like she wanted you to agree to something before you know what the cost would be.

But, yes, as pp said... you actually have to make two separate reservations.

We have a split stay next month( so excited to be able to say next month!!). It is two completely separate ressies. We had a week at the Poly CL, but family decided to come down but refuse to pay Poly prices. SO first I booked the first 3 days at the POFQ with them. Then I called and modified the poly ressie to the rest of the days. Two separate ressie numbers and two separate payments.

Hi! I just did this (changed our 9 nt AoA stay to a split with Poly) a few days ago. The CM wanted me to cancel my AoA Nemo suite before rebooking as 2 separate res. I explained that my kids would kill me if I couldn't rebook 4-5 nights at that suite so I was willing to keep what I had. She asked if I would hold, & I did for a long time (10 min.). When she came back, I had 5 nts Poly followed by 4 nts Nemo - just what I wanted!

It is tricky as only so many discounted rooms @ any level @ any resort are available for certain dates & lengths of stay. I would strongly suggest checking availability for both of your stays online for yourself before calling (although things can change quickly, & sometimes a cm can see something that we can't). I do think I would call until I got a cm to thoroughly check things out for you the way the one did for me.

We are staying next week June 10-16 in a split with Contemp and BC. I booked the trip as a package for all 7 days/6 nights at the Contemp with the spring offer, but when the summer offer came out it save $500 to switch the last 3 nights to the BC. The summer offer started on the 13th of June, so I called and ask a CM for the rate at the BC for the 13th-16th and I already had the room rate for the Contemp so I just subtracted the last three nights of stay at the Contemp and added the total of the rooms for the BC stay and this was my new package. So the CM did a room only reservation at the BC for the 13th-16th and then cancelled just the room at the Contemp for the same days. I only cancelled the room for the Contemp and not the tickets! So, we have a package reservation for 3 nights at the Contemp with 7 day Park Hoppers on one reservation and then 3 nights at the BC on the second reservation. It was very simple and the CM I had was more than helpful after I explained what I wanted to do.

Thanks all for your help! She did explain it would be two reservations but she said the system wouldn't let her quote me without canceling and rebooking the 2 new reservations first. Since I don't know what the extra cost would be didn't want to do that and possibly lose my room at AKL.

It would be ridiculous to force you to change your reservation without getting a price first. Please call back and hopefully you get some one more helpful.
