Split Stay

We are staying in TPV at Contemporary for the first three nights of our trip in May. It's convenient to our plans- 24 hour day, Hoop De Doo, breakfast at Ohana and Thursday night after Hoop watching Wishes from our balcony. Also, we plan to party at Trader Sams and just take the monorail back. On our last three nights we are staying in the Royal Rooms at Port Orleans for a new experience.

The same thing for August. We are staying in Boardwalk CL and then switching to the Poly Deluxe Studio Villa.

We will be doing our first split stay this June! We normally stay in the moderates and have really wanted to try Caribbean Beach, but they have always had double beds and we were not enthusiastic about that. Now that they have queen beds we decided to give it a shot. With the 30% summer discount offer, I got a pretty good deal at the Yacht Club too, so we decided to split our week between the two. So excited!

We will be doing our first split stay when we revisit WDW in June! We got a PIN code that was good for VWL 1 BR villa and wanted to try it out for the first time. Originally we were going to stay all 10 days there but then DH had the fabulous idea of switching over mid-way to stay at VGF in a LV studio since we've always wanted to stay there, and also to be back at a monorail resort. So excited to be trying out two totally new and different resorts in about six weeks!!

We are doing our first split stay in October. We origionally booked 7nts at the Contemporary-Atrium club, then decided to arrive early and do 3nts at Pop Century before moving to CR.
My question is will they shuttle us to the Contemporary when it's time to move?

Due to poor execution on my part, we are doing a quad-split stay next week.

It was supposed to only be split between two resorts, but I booked the second half before verifying that the first half had full availability. So what was supposed to be:

4 nights BLT + 4 nights AKV

became

2 nights BLT + 2 nights AKV + 4 nights AKV

We are getting in really late the day before and had planned on staying at the Hyatt at the airport and taking the ME in the next morning. Unfortunately, I waited too long to make the reservation and the price ended up being not too much less than staying at the Contemporary. Since we would have less of a schedule by waking up in Disney, we booked the first night at the Contemporary, so now it is:

1 night Contemporary + 2 nights BLT + 2 nights AKV + 4 nights AKV

Our family has 4 MagicBands EACH for this trip.

I really hope we can negotiate a checkout/checkin between the two AKV stays to not have to move our stuff to a different room.

Good luck, I hope you don't have to move at AKV!

We've done all kinds of split stays for a number of reasons.
One reason is to save $, especially at current WDW pricing. Onsite perks work for park touring, but MANY Florida resorts boast better pools, far better food, and MUCH lower rates! I hate to say it, but they NOW offer better service! Disney used to be a good value. Not now. I'm tired of being squeezed for every dime, and zero flexibility dining.

Sometimes we've split WDW value resorts with deluxes/offsite especially first/last night, early/late flights. Sometimes it is a matter of promo rate dates. Maybe I can save a ton by flying down a day early, or staying an extra 12 hours.

We also fly into other FL airports. We love Tampa, and save $ spending a day there. Outside rush hour, the drive is only 40min extra. (75 min. TPA to WDW, vs. 30 from MCO) The Tampa area beaches are beautiful! Eating TS meals when we want is a BIG plus!

A third reason piggy backs the above- we love exploring beyond the mouse, especially at the current price gouging. Beyond Tampa and Universal, FL has many fun places. Offsite + car=freedom! The Everglades, Ft.Lauderdale, and St Augustine! Offsite eating costs WAY less and tastes WAY better! FL's neighboring states! We stay near Universal to visit US.

Within the mouse, we've also done split stays to get a change of scene, or special amenities: safari view, the BC pool. Sometimes the resort we want is not available the full week.

With a little creative packing, splits are a breeze!

No. They'll take your luggage for you, but you'll have to get to CR on your own.

In our case we stay for more than 14 days, so we make one reservation for 14 then another for 5-14 depending on the trip. We actually stay at the same resort because we don't like the hassle of moving

I am not a fan of split stays. Once I unpack, I do not want to pack up and move any suitcases until it is time to go home. For me, it is a disruption in my vacation. However, a lot of people really like trying different resorts. For those people, split stays are a huge part of their vacation. I have known people to go for 2 weeks and stay at 4 different resorts. I considered it for my upcoming trip, but the more I thought about it the more I decided it wasn't for me.

For DVC members, this may be the only way they will get to try a resort that is not their home resort since we cannot book those until 7 months before arrival.

If it interests you, give it a shot. Just be sure to calculate the time you need for packing and checking in again as part of your schedule.
