So we are doing our first split stay between POP and CBR in December. We are staying from December 25th-31st.

We will be at POP from December 25th and checking out on the 28th. We will be checking in at CBR on the 28th and checking out on the 31st.

How deos the split stay work? I know that CBR and POP are very close to each other so would it just be easiest to take our own luggage with us and take a cab to CBR? Is there an easier way to do this?

We plan on using our move day as the day to explore the resorts and we will be going to DHS late afternoon so we are not in a time crunch really. We will probably head over to CBR around 9AM or so and check in and go see other resorts.

We will have food that is being transferred as well (safe allergy friendly snacks from home and water, gatorade, and ensure from garden grocer). SO I'm thinking that because of that it might be better to take it ourselves but i'm not sure. I'm assuming that with how busy it is during this time of year, we will not be able to check in early. Will they have a problem with storing food/drinks for us until our room is ready?

Storing food should not be a problem, I am pretty sure they have refridgeration to store perishables. I think the taking a cab is a good idea if you are going to want your luggage when your room is ready, or you have anything you are concerned about being damaged (electronics come to mind). We usually move our things to bell services ourselves, remember there is no direct way to get from resort to resort, you will have to go to either DTD or one of the parks to transfer and I am betting Christmas week you don't want to be doing that if yo can help it.

Hi :) You'll find some people like to take their luggage with them and others prefer to let Disney transfer their luggage. It's really up to you and what makes you feel comfortable. If you choose to have Disney transfer your luggage you'll just call the bell desk from your room and let them know you're moving to a different resort. You can leave your bags there and they will handle any groceries you might have. Be sure to tell the bell desk if you have things that need refrigeration. The only possible down side to this is that you won't see your luggage again until the late afternoon. If you decide to take your luggage yourself by taxi you'll have the benefit of everything being with you, CBR can store things until your room is ready, but you have the added cost of the taxi ride. We've done it both ways, there really is no right or wrong way, it's just up to you to decide which would work best for your family. :thumbsup2

We did a split stay in July and just had Disney do a luggage transfer. I made sure I had everything I needed for the day in my purse for the parks. We were told our luggage would arrive by midafternoon and had no problems. However, having said that with all you are taking it might be easier to take a cab.

If the food needs refrigeration, just take everything on over in the morning, store it with Bell Services, and head out. BS can store the cold stuff properly.

Or you can leave your stuff with the first resort, then go back later and pick it up to take it over.

I would do one of the two if the food needs special storage.
