Split Stay question.

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip for 10/14/23 - 10/21/23. We are a party of 7( 3 adults, 4 children). We’ve settled on doing a split stay between AoA and Poly. Instead of the family suites at AoA, we’re going to get two standard rooms, and plan to do the same at the poly(as they don’t really have suites anyway). Here are my questions:

1.Would it be worth waiting to the 11 month window to try and book the Poly rooms as DVC rentals? This would likely save us over a grand, but I worry that the Poly will book up immediately and I won’t be able to get two rooms when I need them.

2. Are there any considerations I need to be aware of when doing a split stay when going between retail and points?

3. Will bell services still transfer our luggage in this scenario?

Any thoughts and insight would be greatly appreciated.

1 - DVC owners can only make reservations 11 months in advance.

2 - be aware that points rentals are typically non-refundable. Some points brokers offer credit if you cancel, with expiration dates.

3 - yes, although I think at AoA, it's called luggage services.

Thanks for the response! I’m aware of the 11 month window, I apologize for not phrasing my question clearly. I’m asking if y’all think it would be worth waiting in order to rent points, or if I should just book two standard rooms at Poly directly from Disney while I know they have availability. Thank you!

You could book the cash rooms and then cancel them if you’re able to book the rentals, right?

The biggest consideration for split stays is that you will have 2 separate ADR windows. They used to be able to link the two and allow you to make ADRs when the first window opened, but changes to the system have made it so that it cannot be done anymore.

You can just book your two cash rooms and if the DVC comes through, you can cancel your cash rooms.

Why not do both? If a worry book via Disney so you are sure you have it. You can get your deposit back..then go for the dvc rental..
