This will be our first split stay. We are staying 2 nights pre-cruise and another 2 nights after our cruise. (Different resorts). Regarding MagicBands, will we need to order 2 sets of bands or will one set cover both resorts? TIA :confused3:confused3

A split stay to me is when you transfer from one resort to another but to answer your question, any MB's active in your MDE account will be used for park access, room charging, and access to your rooms even when you have separate reservations. The current MB's can be used for reservations for up to 2 years.

Thanks for the info

You will be offered two sets of MBs, but you can decline one of them when customizing the MBs.

We split our last stay. We were offered a set of magic bands for each resort, but saw no reason to do that. We accepted the new magicbands for the first resort and declined the second. Had no trouble with the bands working for our APs, room key, fast passes, dining reservations and charging throughout the entire stay. Hope yours is as smooth.

I was told that MB's have a life of 2 years. Once they are tagged to you they can be used until they no longer work. If you go on MDE you should be able to see every band you were ever issued.

Like disneynutz, I wouldn't consider this a split stay. But, if it was one, moving from one resort to another, you should "check out" of the first resort so that they turn off the availability to open the room door. Then the bands can be set up to open the door on the new resort.

Good point, the resorts can still have issues when moving from one resort directly to another. I went to the front desk to check out a couple of days ago for our split stay and was told that I didn't need to check out. When I explained that I wanted to make sure that we were closed out so that our new resort wouldn't have any issues when we checked in, the CM said oh, i"ll take care of it.

Previously we couldn't use our MB's at our new resort because even though we had checked out, the account wasn't closed so the new resort couldn't see the problem. Several trips to the new room trying to get in, one and a half hours of wasted time and a call to support to force the close, we got into our room.

We went to the front desk of our first resort and asked to be checked out. The cast member said okay. I explained that we were going to another resort and he very quickly told me that it was a very good idea to check out. And that otherwise it would cause problems at our next resort.

What was really nice is that we received our "room ready" text at about 8:15. We were able to pack up the car, drive to the new resort and unpack the car. Woohoo.
