Split Stay Question

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping for a little help. I am planning a spring 2013 trip and we really want to stay at a monarail hotel but can not afford it for our whole trip. So I was thinking of splitting it up 4 days at a deluxe and 4 days at a moderate. Can you book a package this way or do you need to book it seperately? Also, will WDW transfer your luggage from one spot to the other? Any advise on the best way to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your help.

It has to be booked as 2 separate reservations, unfortunately.

Yes, Disney will handle all of the lugagge transfer for you!

I like a split stay so we get 2 different experiences on the same trip. Just don't overpack or you'll spend the whole night before the move packing up!

I just did 2 split stays last month, spread out over BC, Poly, BCV & Dolphin. It was awesome to get to visit them all.

Thank you so much for the reply. Now just to decide which to stay at. I know the Poly will be the deluxe one but the moderate not so sure of. I am traveling with a 5 year old so I would like something convienent to travel to the parks from (a short bus ride would be great since I don't think I will be renting a car) with a really good pool. Any suggestions?

Also, how does the airport transportation work with a split stay?

Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks again.

Just let Disney know when you will use ME. We have used ME in the past with split stays no problem.

To answer your moderate hotel question I would recommend POFQ. It is small and quiet with a pool and food court. The bus transportation was very reliable and short to the parks even on days we shared with POR. You can walk or take the boat to Riverside and use the pools there or eat at the food court which is bigger than FQ or the restaurant. You can also take a boat to DTD.

You wind up with two packages. So if you were planning on the dining plan, you purchase two sets of tickets. One for each resort. But if you get room only for the second stay, you can use the tickets from the first stay.

Exactly what I was going to mention. If you have the dining plan, you wind up paying a little more in tickets due to the ticket purchase requirement with the dining plan. But if you aren't doing dining plan, just buy the amount of tickets you need in the first package and then do room only with no tickets for the second hotel.

As for ME, just book the going for the first hotel and the return to have you picked up at your second hotel.

Thank you all for your responces. That was very helpful.

Which would you do first... the moderate or deluxe? I was thinking to do the moderate first and end the trip with the deluxe. What do you guys think?

Thanks again.

Def. the moderate first! If you want the DDP as mentioned do that on the first package, with enough length of stay tickets to cover the entire trip. You will just have to use your KTTW card from 1st resort for your park tickets during your next stay. Maybe bring a sharpie to mark it so you can easily tell at a glance which is which.

Or do Room only for both stays, hopefully with a discount ;) and buy your park tickets from Undercover tourist. You can save as much as $20 (sometimes more, sometimes less) per ticket depending on what specials they have. Sign up for the Mousesavers.com newsletter for an extra discount.

POFQ is a good choice for your moderate. Small and manageable size, good pool, fairly well located.

Moderate first, finish with the deluxe.

They will transfer your luggage via Bell Services. Just remember that there will be a period of time during that day where you will be "homeless" and probably not have access to your luggage, so try and think of what you might need for that day. Consider this scenario-you leave POFQ, go to a park for a while, tire of that, go to your deluxe to check in, luggage not available yet and you want to go to the pool...make sure you have a bathing suit packed in your "day touring bag" (AKA backpack ;))if you don't have a car. If you do have a car, let Bell Services transfer the bulk of your heavy luggage and throw the stuff you think you might need into your car so you'll have access to it at your new resort. Other things you may need: medications, change of clothes or at least change of shirt????
