It's looking likely that our 4 day trip later this year will be a two and two. Same room size and hotel but different category. Are there any considerations I know that these reservations can't be combined properly, so from those that do this a lot, are there any special considerations that need to be made?

I assume I may need to make ADRs under the proper reservation days, but does it impact park tickets as well? Does this just need a call to MS to get everything "cleared" in a way that nothing gets cancelled out?

Just be prepared to be "homeless" between reservations. As you know, check out is by 11 am and check-in is after 4 pm. Bell Services can store your luggage for you. You could ask MS to add a request to your second reservation asking for the 'first available" villa so that your time without a room is minimized as much as possible.

Yes, you will have two separate windows for making ADRs.

No issue re tickets. Tickets are linked to your MDE account and not the DVC reservation. As long as you have a valid ticket and an on-site reservation linked to MDE, you can make your park reservations. Won't matter if you have a split stay.

this is wonderfully helpful! I've never made more than one or two ADRs in a trip, and it was usually park stuff (candlelight dinners, or the castle), but this trip will probably have 1-2 resort days and i'd hate to be staying on the MK loop but unable to eat there, especially with persnickety baby timing :-D

We do this all the time and make the split day either Epcot…which opens later so we can stay until check out,,,or DS. We book a lunch at either place so that most of the time we are homeless is taken up. Then we head to new resort and most often it’s 3 pm ish and room is ready. If not, we hang at pool!!

We're booking our first split stay in a couple months with newly purchased points at 2 resorts. I love your ideas!!

Thanks, OP, for asking this question!

We are doing our first spilt stay next week. My family is staying at RIV and SSR. We will check out early from RIV and head to MK for the day. We are hoping to be able to go to SSR by 4pm, so we can settle in before Park Hopping over to Epcot for the evening. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Do I need to anything special about our luggage and food? I did read on another thread that Bell Service is no longer storing cold/freezer item. ??
I figure we would pack up the night before and bringing everything to Bell Service before catching the bus to MK.

Bell Services will transfer your luggage but not any refrigerated/frozen items. They will store those refrigerated/frozen items at both RIV and SSR, but you will have to bring your items to them yourself. So you'll have to take rideshare or taxi to SSR with your cold items (might as well take your luggage too, of course) either in the morning (check out of RIV, bring everything to SSR, check everything with BS at SSR, travel to MK) or in the afternoon (check out of RIV in the morning, check your luggage and cold items with BS at RIV, go to MK, return to RIV in the afternoon, pick everything up and then transfer it to SSR). Sorry. This new policy really makes split stays more complicated, and I've read a number of posts from people who plan to use up all cold/frozen items at the first hotel and buy (or have delivered) what they need at the second hotel after they arrive there.

Thanks, I am planning not to have any cold items to transfer. I just want them to move my luggage and any non-perishable groceries to SSR.
I just want to go to SSR in the afternoon and be able to have our things there to be delivered to our Villa. 😎👍🏻

I read today a report that they wouldn’t transfer loose groceries, so some people are planning to pack their nonperishables in their luggage. This policy is new enough that I’m not sure anyone knows the details, so be prepared!

I am thinking I will bring an extra suitcase for just that kind of thing plus souvenirs. Thanks
