Split stay, first time at VGF...feeling a little lost!

We are 20 year members but have not done a split stay before and have not stayed at the Grand Floridian.

I find myself being unsure about the details of a few things. Like, will bell services move our luggage? We're going from a SS studio to a 1 bedroom at VGF. How do I do this? Just drop the items at bell services and tell them about the move?

Also, I've only been to the GF a handful of times -- we've eaten at Narcoosee's, Citrico's and the V &A once each. What are the everyday restaurants like? When I looked at the Cafe menu even that seemed pretty fancy.

Do I check in at the GF or is there a separate check in for the villas?

Are any of the pools near the villas??

Bell Services will move your luggage. Take the luggage down and it will happen.

GFC is nice, but it's not grand or dress code required. Gasparilla is a run of the mill QS.

There is a pool closer to the Villas. They also have their own check-in, but you can also check in at the main lobby, I believe.

You will have a lovely time.

We just returned from a split stay - WLV followed by VGF. We absolutely loved VGF.

Check in is very easily done at the villas, but only between 7:00am and 10:00pm.

I received advice on the boards to make sure you check out (at the front desk) from your first resort before leaving it, so I did that. I asked the CMs at both WL and VGF if that was actually necessary. They said it's hugely helpful, as you can get magic band glitches if you fail to do this. They did say you could do online checkin for the second resort, but basically it will be ignored (because you're already on property at another resort). We checked in and out bright and early and were able to make our request for a higher floor (which was granted). They did need to fix something in our magic bands when we returned from the parks (related to the split stay), but they simply borrowed them, fixed it and brought them up to us within 20 minutes.

We've done several split stays. Yes bell services will move your luggage not a problem. We always check out at front desk before moving and have never had a problem. Also if you're on dining plan make sure you use up all your credits before moving.
