We are staying at Pop Century for one night (this Saturday!) and then will be switching to the Polynesian on Sunday.

Would it be best to:

1. Check out of Pop early on Sunday and head over to the Polynesian and check in early?

OR

2. Check out of Pop, head to the MK, then head over to the Polynesian to check in around 3pm?

I know our room won't be ready at the Polynesian first thing in the morning, but I want to avoid long lines at check in, which I think we'd encounter later in the day.

What's the best bet, in your opinion? Also, should we take a cab over from Pop if we decide to check in at the Polynesian really early (I'm thinking 8am so we can get to MK around 9am).

Thanks!

I would do the whole check out/in thing first thing in the morning. I wouldn't want to deal with it after being in the park. Plus, there is always the off chance your room will be ready early.

We did split stay in April. We stayed at POP then transferred to POR. DOn't take a cab. Check out in the morning at hotel 1, take bagage to luggage services (at POP this is outside, where the ME picks up). They will tag your bags with hotel 2. NOTE, this will take 6-8 hours for luggage to arrive. Then, go to your park, enjoy the day! When you go to hotel 2 to check in, see if the luggage arrived. If not, go to your room and immediately call luggage services. They wait for your call (I found out). When it does arrive, they will bring it to you. Just pack a small day bag with you if you need anything, including swim suits.

When splitting stays (see below in signature), we check out of first resort, hand over our luggage to bell services and off to the park for the day. Early afternoon we check into the new resort.

Last year, when splitting between AKL and Poly, we finished in Epcot around 1:30 and hopped on the Monorail to Poly, checked in around 2:00ish, were in our room by 3:00 and they had to call for our luggage. It was at the Poly they just had to locate it :rotfl:

This year we are doing the split stay thing again.

I would check in at the Poly first, you have a better room selection early in the morning. Then you can ride the monorail to a park and have fun until your room is ready. I've had a room ready at the Poly as early as 9:00am, though, so you may get lucky.

hi scanne :wave2:

If it were me, I'd probably check out of Pop on Sunday morning (but I don't think you need to get up real early. lol), give your luggage to bell services to transport to the Polynesian, then take your "carry-on" or daybag with you to the Polynesian (if you think you'll want to swim, don't forget to pack your bathing suits in your daybag, there are changing rooms and bathrooms by the volcano pool). Then when you check in, you can verify any room or building requests that you may have made, and also bell services at the entrance to the resort can hold your daybags for you. That way, after you check in, you can head out to breakfast or a park or whatever, and then when you come back, all you'd need to do is go to the front desk to pick up your keys. Like someone has already mentioned, sometimes your room will be ready early.

Have an awesome stay and then come back and tell us all about it! I'll be there in 3 weeks and 2 days!!! :sunny:

thanks for this thread! we are doing the same thing in august. 5 days at POR and 5 days at the poly! i hope you don't mind me tagging along on this thread. i love to hear how many people do the split stay! we are doing it so we can try 2 different resorts. this year is my turn and these are the ones I picked. next time is dh's turn!!!

We just did a split stay in May Pop to AKL. We dropped our lugagge off at the bell stand & went to AK got to AKL around 2. Checked in got an upgrade-whoo hoo. Went to the room lugagge came right away.

Hi! Not trying to hijack....just have a similar question....
We're also doing a split stay in January for the first time. We are staying at POP for Fri-Sat and then moving over to a 1 BR at OKW for Su-Th. We want to check in reasonably early since our OKW stay includes the DDP but we won't be needing any credits until lunch anyways. Should I get up early and drive the car over to OKW and get checked in ASAP (like at 8am) and then head back to POP and get the DH and kids up and at 'em. Could we still leave our bags with bell services (or whatever they're called) at POP when we check out and have them sent to OKW? We could pack our "day" luggage in our car and keep it with us.

Would it be just at easy to get up and check out of POP and hit a park for the morning and then check in to OKW in the afternoon? Then we could "activate" our DDP and eat lunch while we wait for our room if there isn't one ready yet. I'm just curious as to when we have a better chance of getting our room requests upon check in...if we check in earlier or later:confused3 Either way, I'll be in Disney World and not in Michigan in January so I'll be happy:banana:
