Split stay- anyone?

We always do split stays as we get to experience more places instead of wondering what it would be like to stay there. We usually check out before going to a park for the day Disney moves our stuff and then check into our new place later on in the day. I am not a big fan of unpacking everything out of your suitcase I don't trust people coming into the room or when Mousekeeping leaves the door open while cleaning (My mother had sentimental jewerly stolen while we went to a water park once when we stayed at CBR years ago). Once we did 4 resort hops:Contemporary then to Dolphin then to AKL then WL. This year we are starting in BLT hopping to AKL then to Boardwalk!

We split from Poly to a value... lol. I know, it's culture shock, but hey... with these times, you gotta pinch pennies wherever you can.

Our biggest sale for Poly (or any other monorail resort), is to stay the night before and the night of our MK day. That way, we will have a quick hop on the monorail to go back to the room for a midday break/nap, then hop back on monorail to the park. And since there are no other parks that it is that easy to go for a break... we split stay at a value, to save money.

I'm not a resort snob... so the culture shock really isn't that big of a deal, since we are only sleeping in the room... and hey, they are all Disney properties, so Disney is Disney to me. Plus, a day at a Value Resort at Disney is better than a day at home! lol ;)

We're contemplating a split stay. Any opinions....advice??? Anyone done a split stay and regret it or done a split stay and thought it was great? It's our third trip in three years and we'll be there for 8 nights so I thought it might be fun to do two 4 night stays. Still haven't decided on which resorts. One thing at a time :rotfl:

i'll be doing it this week so I'll post when I get back. But I like the idea. If u pack light its easy.pirate:

I have to agree with your sentiments about a day at a value resort at Disney is better than a day at home and I am a resort snob. Just sayin, I'd take value over no trip any day!

Our first DVC stay we did 3 resorts. It was 2 nights VWL, 5 night AKV, 4 night SSR...the one plus is that you leave a messy place to a clean place:thumbsup2 we also got to see 3 different places in one trip and see which ones we prefer. The bummer was packing up with 2 little kids. I told hubby that I won't do 3 places again..I would consider 2, but for now, I am happy with just staying put in one place.

We had a car, so we just packed up our stuff and left it in our car while our room was getting ready.

Splitting AKL and GF. If you are flying and not renting a car, do you just pack your bag check out, grab a disney bus and head to new disney property? I guess just leave the bags secured with the bell service until check in? I really don't think I have seen ppl with luggage on the disney bus or monorail. I don't want to look like the Clampids:thumbsup2 Just a visual, we pack very light 2 bags not 8;)

Great statement from the pp. Any stay at WDW is better than a day home.
We camped in April at FW for 9 nights. AKL and GF will be a treat for DH and me.
