Split stay and tickets

Thinking of splitting our stay. First half at Pop and second half renting DVC points. How should I buy the park tickets? We plan on getting the ddp since I ran the numbers and it will benefit us. I know the ddp plan has to be booked as two separate reservations.

Buy tickets with your Pop package that cover the entire length of stay. I am not sure if FP+ will change anything but we just continued to use our first KTTK cards for ticket entry throughout entire stay.

Last time I did a split stay with ddp you had to buy at least 1 park ticket per person at each resort to be eligible for the ddp.

That is true with packages but not with a DVC reservation.

Buy tickets for the full length of your stay with the Pop Century package. You can add DDP to your DVC reservation without buying any tickets. Remember the owner of the DVC must add the DDP for you, and pay for it. You can work out with the owner the best way to reimburse them, or arrange for payment to DVC, but only the owner can call Member Services and make the addition.

Yes, you may have to carry around the Pop key card to access your tickets. I really don't know if they can transfer the remaining tickets to the DVC key card.
