Split-Lodging

I totally understand that some people have different preferences, but I don't see why Animal Kingdom, any more than any other resort, would make people do split stays??:confused3
I think it is definitely the fact it is downright beautiful and there are animals right there.
In renting points the thing people seem to want most of all is AKV savannah view and some concierge.
Out of any resort, I would guess at BLT encouraging more split stays - purely down to the high points it demands.
I totally agree on that assessment.
We are doing a week at AKV and then we are going to split the following week between BLT and BWV.
I desperately want to stay at BLT because it is on the monorail line but it does cost more points than BWV. I love BWV...so that was the logical one to split it with.

As I say I don't unpack because it just feels weird to me. My suitcase is a perfectly fine place for my clothes to stay because it is clean and I know where it has been...so shifting won't be a big issue at all...just zip it up (you don't even have to do it neatly because it is only a relatively short time) and next stop unzip and we are ready to go again.

I did split stay last year. Stayed at Vero Beach for 3 nights and then AKLC for 2 nights and then AKL Sav. room for another 5 nights. It was just my ds (12 yo) at the time so, the packing/unpacking fell on me and was not a big deal. The day we switched rooms we went to Sea World and when we returned our room was ready. This year we are staying in a AKLC room again with 2 other people who are staying with us for 6 nights. When they leave, it will then be just my son and I. We are switching to BCV for another 5 nights. We added the dining plan for this part of our vacation. This gives us the best of both worlds. I find switching not a big deal and lets us have different experiences.

We almost always do a split stay, but it's typically the same resort, just different room sizes. We like the lesser points for a weekend Studio room, so a lot of times we will arrive into a Studio Room and switch on Sunday to a 1-Bedroom. Only once have we completely changed resorts to do this - but we had a car, so it wasn't bad at all.

I think the Dining Plan (inability to make reservations for all nights at once) might keep me from doing this in the future. Luckily our January trip is only one night in a studio before moving to a 1-bedroom - and it's still going to be really slow time of year on Sunday when we check into our larger room for the whole week.

The one time that we changed resorts we didn't have a child with us either - which helped.

We always do spit stays. Because of the washer and dryer, I only bring three outfits per person. This makes packing very easy. Bell services takes our luggage and we head to a park for the day.

I wake up way before the rest of my family, so sometimes I will go check in at the new resort while they are getting ready. Then we just meet up at a park.

We are doing a split stay in a couple of weeks, starting at BWV for a week the to AKV:yay:. Do I need coolers to pack food items? Does the luggage get labeled so it makes it to the right place? This is the first time we are switching, so I'm a little nervous about all the details:scared: We are never the lucky ones whose room is ready, when we check-in. So we plan on spending some time at downtown Disney and the pool at AKV. It is also the day one DD and family fly out and another flies in.:dance3:

DH and I did stay at AKV for a week last summer, and frankly, we were bored out of our minds after just a couple of days. I am going to throw caution to the wind, and with the opening of Kindani, hope that there is more to do. Even so, I've only booked 3 nights there to give it a whirl.

Agreed. It is on the other side of the planet from everything but AK and while it is very themey it eventually becomes too much of the same with escape being a longer than normal bus ride. It is a great 2 nighter but I want a greater variety while at Disney without spending most of my vacation on a Disney bus.

We own at SSR and AKV. This vacation (next month) is for 10 nights. We will be doing 8 at THV and 2 at Kidani Sav View. We are taking DBIL for his first trip. We want him to see why we LOVE Disney so much. Yes, I was one of the crazies on the phone at 9 am when the booking for the THV's opened. I hate borrowing points, because you never know what next year brings, so I booked only 8 nights there and 2 nights with my AKV with the intent of switching over, then it was agreed, we all wanted to stay at Kidani and see our tapestry!!!

We've only done a split stay once before. We were on a 7 night land/sea followed by three nights at OKW-changed three resorts/ship in the 10 night stay, no issues, no regrets.
