Split Bathroom - Like em or not?

we have to have the split!!! DD11 takes her time in the shower and in front of the mirror! If it were just us two adults, we could probably make due with just one.

:wizard:

We just upgraded a few days ago to a cabin that had a split bath.

When I told my daughter that we upgraded, the very first thing out of her mouth was yea - we get a split bath now (she's 16), so I guess to her it was very important. To me it was not, which is why I booked a cat 11 instead of a 10. Plus, I liked the location of the 11's better.

I'm plus plus size & I love the split bath. Even with just DH & I, we have booked a cat 10 to get it. I don't find it any smaller than any other cruise line bathroom & love the convenience of us both being able to get ready.

Another BIG yes for the split bathrooms. Even if it was just the two of us, I'd still want it. We sailed on the Pride of America last year and hated having only one bathroom -- and it really was not that much bigger either.

But with my daughter in the room, we NEED two bathrooms as she takes forever in the shower. I've always liked the fact that my husband can shave and groom in the one bathroom while one of us takes a shower in the other. Makes getting ready for dinner much faster. Plus there's more places to put stuff with the two bathrooms ;)

I wish they had the amount of space there is in the split bath and turn it into 1 bigger bathroom. I didn't really like configuration as it is.

we look at it this way - we don't have one at home unless you count the kitchen sink so why worry about one while we are away.

is it worth 125 - well that's up to you but for us unless we are getting a view i wouldn't waste the money - we could use that money for pictures, drinks, excursions, massages etc.

while it might be nice to stand and brush your teeth while dh is using the toilet its' not all that important to us.

we've been in hotels that have split bathrooms and ones that don't - it's not really an issue - maybe if we had more then 1 child but even that i don't see it being an issue.

we're family - dd and dh both walk in the bathroom when i'm in the shower, bath and ya even on the toilet - (i get no privacy LOL) so for us - i wouldn't spend the money

that said - for our anniversary cruise we're paying more but that's because we want a balcony

I personally didn't care for the split bathroom. I am a bigger girl. My knees were practically touching the wall when I was in the restroom. :) Most of the time we got dressed and put together by the mirror in the stateroom. I would much rather have the bath with the toilet and sink seperate like hotel style. We had our shoe holder over the bathroom door and really never closed it. It really made me feel claustrophobic.

Hi!

I am thinking of booking my first Disney Cruise. My DH and I have been on other Cruise lines.

I prefer an inside cabin. There will be two adults in the room. I am trying to decide beteen a cat 10 and 11.

So...what do you think of the split bathroom? Is it worth $125? Cat 10 or 11??

Thank you in advance!

We just got back from our May 30th cruise and were upgraded from a Cat 12 to Cat 9. I must say we looved the split bath, it was nice to both be getting ready at the same time without being in each others way. Now with that being said would I pay extra for it? no. But if I'm upgraded, I'll take it in a heartbeat.

I am used to teeny-tiny bathrooms on cruise ships! On my only Disney cruise so far, we had a handicap-accessible cat. 6 cabin. It had one big bathroom with both a handicap shower and a tub/shower, instead of a split bath. I'm guessing other handicap-accessible cabins also have 1 large bathroom rather than the split bath.

I just booked a 4-night Disney cruise for December, and the travel agency we booked with had special group prices. The difference between a cat. 11 and a cat. 10 was $350, and I would NOT pay that much more just for the split bath. However, by the time we booked - the cat. 11's and 10's were sold out, so we booked a cat. 9 for only $50 more than a cat. 10.

We love the split bathrooms. We were 4 in the cabin and loved that I could shower, and the kids could still use the bathroom if they needed without coming in on mom. My DH and I were just on a Celebrity cruise and it was just the 2 of us. I missed that split bathroom when I wanted to get in the shower and the dh was sitting upon the throne! Not much room to maneuver around him to get to the shower!

Not to be, well, gross, but can you flush if someone is in the shower?

I remember communal bathrooms in college in the 70's. One would have to yell "flush" if someone was in the shower, or else they would get scalded! I wonder if you would get scalded in a cruise ship bathroom if someone else flushed the toilet?

Yeah! That's why I asked!

Never encountered ANY problems in that way. We've had someone using the toilet, someone shaving with the sink water running and someone taking a shower and none of us were lacking warm or hot water. I don't believe that the stateroom systems are individual but probably are more like a hotel where they run off one big unit. Anyway, I've never even felt the water pressure go down when the toilet was flushed.
