I am really worried about it.:( I do know that my 4 years old daughter will want to ride it (she is high enough) but that drop scares me a lot, not for me, for her.

I wish that ride would have seat bealts! Do you think it is safe for such a young girl? I am worried thinking that she might stand up or something on that deep drop :worried:

Our dd was 4 the first time we went to DL and Splash Mountain was her favorite ride. I understand your panic - I sat behind our dd and held on tight and she had a blast.

My 3.5yr DD old rode it last week just fine. Due to the angle an speed on the drop it would be very difficult to stand up for anyone. I think it's perfectly safe.

If you are über concerned, if you sit behind her you can provide a seat belt with your arms...

Ps- my DD LOVED it and was bummed we didn't get back over there to go again.

The very back seat in the log is wider and they let a parent and a small child sit side by side in it. Or hold onto her like others suggested.

We took my niece on it for the first time when she was four years old. My sister was concerned as well and sat behind her, like others have posted. She loved it though, she even put her hands up for the picture!

Splash Mountain now has lap bars. I am sure (if your daughter is tall enough) that she will be alright. Nobody has ever accidentally fallen out of this attraction, although years ago, somebody (an adult) did climb out and was killed after being hit by one of the ride vehicles.

DD was 3.5 when she rode splash in May. If you ask to sit in the back row you can sit next to her and have a hand on her. Thats what DW did in May. The last seat is big enough for two.

Splash at DL doesn't have lap bars.

Physics keeps you in your seat during the drop. Even 4 year olds.

Yep. It's a good option.

Only at WDW. I made the same mistake a few months ago. :)

DD was 3.5 when she first rode it. She loved it. The last time we went she was 4.5 and rode that ride over and over and over.
DH did sit behind her and wrap his arms around her.

As suggested by others, request the back seat of the log where you can sit side by side with your DD. The CMs are always happy to accommodate that request in my experience. This is what I did for years with my own DD, and it made the ride much more fun for both of us as it is pretty snug and secure in the back of the log there. I could hang on to her as much as I wanted (not sure which one of us needed this hanging on more).

My DS rode when he was 3.5 and LOVED it. He wanted to go on it over and over again. It was hard because his twin sister wasn't tall enough to go on at that point and she was crushed. Funny thing was when she turned 4 all she talked about was how she was tall enough for Splash Mountain. And when we went back she wanted to ride that first. :thumbsup2

DD5 went in the front seat herself and was great. If your daughter is tall enough she should be good.

It's my DS4's very favorite ride. He's ridden it every visit since his 3rd birthday. Of course he also loves tower of terror!

My then 4 year old rode at least 10 times on our last WDW trip. She loved it. If you're honestly worried about your daughter standing up on a ride, you need to have a lot of talks with her before your trip. This isn't safe even on the "kiddie" rides.

Last year my 3.5 yr old DS rode it and loved it. He sat in a middle seat by himself. No problems.

I always ride in the back with my four year old daughter. I warn her when we are about to go down the smaller drops and then again when we get to the top of the big drop. My arm then acts like a big seat belt.:)

If you opt for the back seat, make sure she gets in first (assuming you're entering from the main line) so she's on your right hand side. That way, she'll be in the picture if you want to get one. We took our daughter when she was 4. She hated it and I don't know when she'll be willing to try it again. That's why I was so bummed that she was on my left side because that was our only opportunity to get that picture, but you just couldn't see her at all.
