Last time we went in 2002, my DD wasn't tall enough for SM. The CM doing the measuring gave her a certificate that says

"This is to certify that 'Name' is a valued member of the Fraternity of Future Splash Mountaineers and will be able to experience the spine-tingling thrills and spills of a more than 50-foot drop down Splash Mountain as soon as he/she is as tall as the posted signs."

My sister tells me that she and her party will be able to cut the line (or use FP line?) if she shows this certificate. Is this true? Has anyone ever done this? If so, do they keep the cert. I would still like to keep it for a souvenir.

My DGS has similar one for Rock n Roller Coaster (number 0001). There is a space to enter the date he was tall enough to ride ( to be filled in by a CM). I am hoping that once that date is entered we get to keep the card for his memory album. Plus hvaing the first one is too cool!!!!

My little brother got one of these on his second trip... I do believe that he did get to 'cut' the line and go through. I don't remember if he got to keep it afterwards or not. I thought it was a very cool idea. A very nice souvenier for a scrapbook!

You do get to cut to the front of the line for Splash Mountain and I do believe it was everyone in your party as well. :cool1:

8 more days till CSR!!!!!

Thanks everyone!
I didn't want to try to use the certificate and have the CM look at me like I was crazy or have my DD upset because we really couldn't cut the line. She's been looking froward to this for 3 years. Now the only rides she isn't tall enough for is RnR and Primieval Whirl. Oh well, we'll just have to go back again!

Only 5 more days!!!

How cool. I didn't know they did that. I guess because I've always known what they could and couldn't ride and never got measured. DS did get stopped every time on our last trip for Splash Mountain, Test Track - all of those rides - because honestly, he was just barely over it. But he never got turned away. DD is finally tall enough for RNRC and Primeval Whirl on this trip, and she's so excited. I guess I'll have to take him up to RNRC and see if they've got any of those certificates for him. Thanks for the tip!

DS got one many years ago (16 now) and when we took it back they brought us in through the exit, but there was no FP then.

DD got one and we used it last summer. The first CM directed us right into the FP line. The second CM (after you climb stairs and walk a short distance) looked at it and was really nasty about it. I will give him credit that he was younger and maybe not as knowledgable, but he was still rude. We went on in, but he acted like he shouldn't have let us.

I made color copies of them to put in their memory books. Took the original with us.

Good idea! I'm going to scan it right now!

Splash Mountain has been the only ride that offered us this certificate. It is personally designed just for that ride. I have never seen another :confused3 but then my kids were big enough by time RnR was built. I just assumed since Splash Mountain is very "cartoon-like" and appealing to young children that they were trying to smooth over the many tears that come when kids can't get on it.

:umbrella: Uh oh - more thunder - will this rain ever stop ????? The south is being taken over by mushrooms and mold :umbrella: but then maybe it will eat the kudzu :umbrella:

We went to Disney last year with some friends of ours. Their daughter had these certificates for Splash Mountain and for Rock n Roller Coaster.

At Splash Mountain, they walked us (7 of us) around to the ride exit and put on on the next boat available.

However, at Rock n Roller Coaster, they put us all in the Fast Pass Line.

Obviously, different CMs handle the certificates differently.

My DS got one on our last trip for Star Tours. The CM explained to me that he would get in front of everyone, including FP. :cool1:

that's way too cool. If DD isn't big enough in June for SM I hope we get a certificate.
time to be turnin around

Can a little one get a certificate even when it's blatantly clear she's too short for the ride? I know my daughter will have to sit a lot of things out because she's not even close to height...but a certificate for her scrapbook would be great. :earsgirl:

The certs are for those that are to small to ride. She would get one now and you can keep it or take it back later to get her on when she is tall enough. We got several of these for my 3 yr old (then 2) when we went. They are cool.

Let me don my flameproof suit:

Having taken over 4 trips with DGS this was the first and only time he was offered a certificate for any ride. I knew they had them (my nieces got one for Splash Mountain several years ago) but when they didn't offer--we didn't ask. That's what makes this one so "magical". It's just one of those things that if it happens to your or child it happens and if it doesn't it doesn't. Each certificate I have seen, Splash and RNRC were designed just for that ride.

I'm not sure how Disney/CM's would react to people suddenly going up and saying Little Johnnie isn't tall enough today but we plan on coming back so can he have one of those front of the line certificates? I think the CM's have enough to handle greeting people, directing them to the correct line, checking fastpasses and checking the height of the other children, answering questions, etc. to add the extra five minutes it would take to issue a "certificate" to all the kids who aren't tall enough. I think it would "loose" it's "magic" if it was something people assumed they were entitled to and started asking for it. Just reading these boards we can see the number of people who get annoyed when they don't get towel animals, get super extra extra treatment when they are wearing a birthday badge, don't get complim. upgrades, don't get picked for shows, parades, etc. seems to be growing larger every day. Now they're going to be upset when they try to get Little Johnny on a ride they know he's too small for and then don't get the certificate.

Thats' why these things are magical moments--they are random and unexpected. Just like when someone walks up and gives you their fastpasses, gives you a seat on a crowded bus, lets your kids sit down front for the parade even if you just arrived, and the other things people do to spread magic to others on their trips.

I'd hate to see this taken over by the we're entitled to it mentality.

Off my soapbox, flameproof suit on.
