Savannah Guthrie’s mother missing

It was announced this morning that Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie’s 84 yo mother is missing. Law enforcement treating her home as a crime scene, haven’t said exactly why. They do say she has physical limitations & could not have left the home on her own. It doesn’t sound good.

How scary that must be for the family! I hope they find her soon and that she is okay.

The sheriff has been on network & cable news this evening. He won’t say if he thinks she was harmed when she was taken. Just keeps saying they know she couldn’t have left in her own, absolutely no dementia issues & she has daily medication & that it could be fatal if she’s without it for 24 hours. She’s been missing at least 36 hours now.

Edit.. there has been no ransom demands.

He said on NBC Nightly News tonight they believe she was abducted AND harmed during it.

Very disturbing.

She lived alone but had staff to maintain the house and yard.

This staff has to be cleared first I would think.

This is so sad and scary for the Guthrie family. I hope they can find her quickly.

I was also thinking diabetes. She could have epilepsy.

But honestly, if it’s blood pressure meds, anti coagulants, etc, these could all be crucial, especially at her age.

Hoping Mrs. Guthrie is found, but it’s not looking good. Savannah was scheduled to fly to Italy today to host coverage of the Winter Olympics, but understandably she has cancelled, to be in AZ with her family.

I just hope it wasn't another family member and this turns out similar to Carl Rob Reiner, where a family member went into her bedroom to confront her about something and they got into an argument.

There has been nothing to indicate a family member was involved in the abduction of Mrs. Guthrie.

Just to add: Carl Reiner died in his 90's of old age.
Rob Reiner and his wife were killed by their son who had severe mental illness.

Reports are there was forced entry probably ruling out staff and family.

Also reports blood was found.

This is very sad but also from a non-emotional point of view interesting.

An 84 year old woman, not in great health, not very mobile (they said she can't go more than 50 yards alone) .............. WHY? The only thing that makes sense is money or something deeply personal. And if it is money why has there been no ransom, OR who is to benefit?

They say she has house and yard help, I imagine if her physical health is in jeopardy she might have kind of home health visits ......... so not like she is always alone? Her family is all local and visits often, including night before? A stranger watching would see lots of activity and move on to someone else. If a crime in the moment like a robbery, why? again take an 84 year old, not very mobile woman. That kind of person would take what they want and leave her.

Sounds personal to me.

Watching the sheriff choke up was not easy. No doubt what they uncovered is unsettling, especially towards a 84 year old woman.
