Splash Mountain to become Princess and the Frog ride

How do people deal with real adversity in life if this is the kind of thing that emotionally devastates them?

There’s a pandemic, record unemployment, continued social injustice and ... this is what people are hung up about? Life will move on and be OK.

I love Splash in its current form. But nothing lasts forever, and that’s fine. I’m excited for a new experience!

This is a theme park board where people like theme park rides. Of course we are going to be upset about losing one of the best ones ever.

Was it really necessary to make a post sneering at people just because they disagree with you?

Love Splash Mountain mostly because it was my grandma's favorite ride and I can still hear her laughter when we ride it. I"ll be sure to record it when we ride in September.

My other worry is that they won't do a good job with the refurb. The current ride has so many great animatronics and scenes. I really hope they rise to the occasion. Hopefully with Tony Baxter working on it it will be great. He did the original Journey into Imagination ride, right? that was fantastic!

Princess and the Frog is a visually stunning movie and we love it. Hope they do it justice!

But you’re not losing the ride? It’s just being rethemed. If you like a Disney water log ride with a Big drop, then good news this is going to be a Disney water log ride with a big drop!

This is also my favorite ride but I love it for the anticipation, and the drop and the length. I don't love it for that song. I am uncomfortable with the caricatures of the movie and the theming of the ride. I'm THRILLED that they are re-theming. And yes - my kid asked what it was from and that was a conversation we had that we probably should have had earlier. And then he asked why they would still have the ride. I don't think the answer should be "because people really like the Zip A Dee Doo Dah song".

My kids, too, were old enough on their own to recognize the negative connotations in this ride and were appalled all on their own. We had this conversation, and I hope they are retheming. I will be happy to tell them that Disney is doing the right thing! Though, I'm not a big fan of Frontierland in general. The entire area could be rethemed into New Orleans and or more whimsical overall and include other areas such as Rapunzel too.

This is my primary concern -- that they would contemplate reducing the number of animatronics and cheaping out making it inferior.

No there are far worse things disney could have done and likely will do.

Change is never easy for many of us. People were outraged with Epcot changes, the same with Mr. Toad leaving, and the list goes on. We all survive.

I think its more along the lines that people get upset when things get changed based off pressure from people, esp people who aren't even in the Disney fan base. I just find it hard to believe its not being changed because of that
