Splash Mountain During Parties?

I finally decided that this is the year for us to attend both the Halloween & Christmas parties at the Magic Kingdom. We've never been to either party before. We'll attend each as part of two separate 3-day weekend trips (no, combining them in one trip would not be possible for us), and our party attendance will probably be our only MK visit of each trip.

I looked at details about the parties on Undercover Tourist, and saw that Splash Mountain isn't listed as being open during either party. That's our favorite ride. Does is just go out of commision during parties? I didn't see it listed as being under refurbishment this fall.

Good to know. I'll assume that UT's listing was not updated from the previous year, when there apparently was a long refurb. So glad as we really like Splash and BTMRR!

A tip: ride them during the parade (there are 2 parades so you can catch it later).

Both were walk ons the entire time the parade was going on. We were able to ride each several times.

I would think that they would be virtually "walk ons" during the entire party, parade or not.

FWIW, my secret true love of the parties is low ride wait times. We don’t do characters and only hit a few treat trails - typically we’ve used the time to hit rides hard, get a last minute spot for parade and fireworks (admittedly sometimes a risky move), then more rides.

Most rides are walk-ons or no more than 5-10 min waits (in my experience). The exception would be 7DMT which tends to keep a steady flow until late in the night. Even when there is a line on any given ride, no FPs means the lines tend to move faster than ‘normal.’

Splash should be open for sure assuming its actually working. Two years ago during MNSSHP, I was the only one in the log. I'll have to see if I can the ride photo. Pretty cool. Its the small things ya know

I concentrate on rides too since I don't really care about the characters that much (certainly not any where you have to wait in lines that long). At MNSSHP I hit the rides, then watch the fireworks and maybe some treat trails. I'll catch the second parade and a late stage show at the end of the night. It works well for me.

We did our first party last year, and I'm with you. Amazed how many people spend the party in line for magic shots and characters. We decided to pick one of the rare ones, we did Sandy Claws, and that's it unless the line was low, which none were. Pro tip, you get more out of standing up their and watching the interaction for a few minutes than you do waiting an hour or 2 to spend 30 seconds. Especially the Seven Dwarfs. Watching Dopey and Grumpy play for 10 minutes was better than standing for a picture, for us. I would say Sandy is an exception. He's fantastic and can be done before the party starts if you get there very early. The rest was fireworks, 2nd parade and crushing rides.

Not for us. We experienced waits at every ride (usually around 20 minutes, sometimes more) during the Christmas party, except during the parade (December 2017).

When the parade was over, both had long waits.
