Hi all. We've never been on Splash Mountain because we don't want to be walking around the park soaked :sad2:. I heard that there is a specific seat to sit in to avoid getting wet (ha, as much as possible I guess). Anyone know what seat that is? Do you get totally soaked, or would a poncho be enough to keep us dry :confused3:?

Don't sit in the front! We did and got absolutely soaked but it was at the end of our first night so not too bad as we were heading back to BCV.

It is a water ride so you should expect to get wet. To what degree is unknown. My oldest daughter wanted to front seat until she saw a kid getting out of the front seat soaked. The people in the second row were not as wet. So she decided to sit in the second row and I sat in the front with my youngest. Well wouldnt you know, she ended up getting soaked while DD and I in the front row really didn't.
You could wear a poncho or
You could bring a change of clothes in case you do get soaked.

When my wife and I rode it we were disappointed because we hardly got splashed at all. It was really hot that day too.

My Dad sat in the last row and id not get wet. I sat inthe 2nd row behind my DS and DH and I got soaked. But I do go on Splash to get wet!

Right. We weren't sure how wet you got, since you get wet on Kali but you don't on the Jungle Cruise, you know? Maybe to be safe we'll do it last during the EMH before we go back to the Swan...

I wore a Poncho the first time, and Didn't get wet, but went on it again, and got SOAKED!!!!:confused3

We rode it twice last December. The first time, we sat in the back seat and didn't get wet (other than a little mist/spray). The second time, we sat in the second set of seats and we got absolutely soaked!

The biggest variable, to me, is how much they're using the water cannon and how backed up the queue of boats gets as you go by the area where that water lands. The first time through, it was timed perfectly for us and we were completely missed by the cannon. The second time through, it was backed up and everyone in every seat in our log got soaked as we slowly went by.

So it's possible to get through Splash Mountain with only a little bit of water hitting you, but it's too random to count on it. As others have said, if you're very concerned about that but still want to ride, then wear a rain poncho. That will protect most of your body from getting wet, anyway.

The weight of the riders is a factor too. When my DH (nearly 300lbs) is in the log, everyone gets soaked.

The biggest factor is whether the water cannon is on or not. If it is, then right at the very begining as you wind around the front of the drop and then come up on the left of it, as a boat comes down the cannon goes off and every one gets completly soaked!!! Not sure why Disney had the cannons on in December, but they did. Didn't mind it so much in March, but man you sure do get wet.

My DS (4) didn't get a drop on him. He says it's because of the big fat man sitting in front of him...me

We sat in the back row and barely got splashed at all...maybe equivelent to a few tablespoons each person at the most.

We get a lot wetter from the other logs coming down than from us going down ourselves. I would wear a poncho if you are concerned.

The first time we went on Splash the water cannon wasn't on and we didn't get wet at all. Not one splash. Nothing. The second time we were in the same seats (first and second rows) and the water cannons were on, and we got pretty wet! Not soaked, but wet. As you round the first curve before you even go up into the mountain you pass the big drop and they time it so that you pass the drop as a boat is coming down it. To give the effect of a big splash at the bottom they shoot off the water cannon as the boat reached the bottom of the drop, and all the water lads directly on the people in the boat turning the corner! Your best bet would be to sit in the back of the boat and just hope the water cannon isn't on!

That is how my family and I once got soaked, although since it happened in the month of August and not during sometime in December it was not so bad. However I would take that soaking on Spalsh Mountain in that part of the ride, because it was not as bad as getting soaked on Kali River Rapids.

It's called "Splash Mountain" not "Stay Dry Mountain". Why would you WANT to stay dry? It's a theme park, and chances are it's 90 degrees outside. Loosen up.

I wore a poncho and sat on the second row. Didn't get wet at all. I didn't know there was a cannon, and I have no idea if it was on or off when I rode (I guess it was off?)

OP, now that I know about the cannon, I'd ask before getting on the ride if the cannon is on that day, and decide based on that.

There is no way for you to control whether you get wet or not. The ride itself is fairly dry and is patented as such. The wet is provided by effects. We always want to get soaked but never do. Which means you'll get our soaking.

It's hit or miss.... sometimes we don't get wet at all. othertimes it's just a little and barely noticable...

but once i got totally soaked when we just went around some corner and a water cannon/fountain thing went off. i was the only in the log to get hit! and i got hit bad!!! i was quite suprised.. plus it was evening EMH so it was dark and cold out... it was so unexpected and we had a good laugh. what timing too with it being nighttime and a little chilly!
