Spiteful real estate agent- UPDATE Post 55

I'd want someone that knew how to aggressively market the heck out of my home.

Interestingly enough, we've sold 5 homes over the years, and I've never had a listing agent also be the one to bring me the buyer. It's always been another agent with one time being another agent out of the same office.

Like another poster said upthread, anyone can sell what's on the MLS. Nothing is preventing her from selling that house and getting her share of the commission. If this agent is so aggressive and good at what she does, why didn't she bring a buyer(s) into that house?

Exactly! I think she can't get past that she wasn't chosen as the listing agent.

Good luck on selling your home!:goodvibes :goodvibes

obviously they get paid a lot more to sell houses where they are the listing agent and will focus on those. I believe they only get 1/2 the comission if it is listed by someone else.

If your current agent has done everything possible to sell your house, and assuming there isn't anything majorly wrong with it (crack dealer next door, a giant hole in the roof) then it could be as simple as your house is just priced too high. Talk to your current agent, have her run some new comps and see if prices in your area have fallen.

I agree with this advice. Also is it possible to interview a few more realtors that you didn't get a chance to interview the first time around? I would not list with her. I think she will give you a lot of grief forever and rub it in your face, however, if you think she really will sell your house and you want to get out of there then don't cut off your nose to spite your face. This is a bad market though.

Our contract comes due next month and I'm happy with our current realtor. I'm quite sure though when we relist she is going to ask us to drop our price, again, but DH says no way is he doing that so she may not want to list us again.

While the listing agent splits the commish with the selling agent, I have yet to have my lister ever sell my house. We came close, but it didn't happen. I think listers need to make sure the house is marketed to it's best and fullest extent in order to bring interested buyers to the door. If a home is listed in MLS, unless it is way off the mark for what someone really wants, any agent should be showing it to all interested buyers.

I would never use her either. I do not care for people like that. I don't deal with anyone with a big honking ego if I have a choice.

If she is so good, she'll do what Uncle Remus said and find you a buyer. But I hope someone else does it first.
