Spirit of Aloha - who's been?

I, also, am glad to finally see some positive reviews for the luau!! We are going in September and I was very, very excited about this activity until I started reading feedback on this board. Thanks for the positive thoughts! I'm back to looking very forward to the luau!!

We went 2 years ago...the food was that good and we couldn't see very well from out seat (we had to sit in the DDP section) The best part of the show was the fire dancers...the actors in the other part weren't that good....

I also went we I was 6 years old and remember the hula dancing lessons as my fav part of the trip!

I'm glad we went but we won't be going back anytime soon!

not counting the food how would you base the entertainment part comparred to the HDD.

HDD is FAR superior to SOA. Hands down. Read some of the reviews of each on allearsnet.com and you'll see!

HDD Recommended by 99% of reviewers
AOS recommended by 75% <---and that's higher than I expected, from the reviews I read everyplace

I didn't listen to the bad reviews and went, and was so disappointed. Part was the awful service we got, part was the agonizing acting. Yes, the fire work at the end is exhillarating, but wasn't enough to thrill me since I have seen LOTS of fire performances and this was not very good compared to much I had seen in the past.

We had front row seats, a view of everything on a beautiful night. And I wanted that time and money back...

To the people who enjoyed the show, did you see the first or second of the evening? I'm just wondering if it would better for it to be dark out for the fire dancers, etc.:confused3 We're definately planning to go on our next trip and I'm leaning towards the 8:00 show.

I've done the earlier show last time and it was great. This time we are doing the later show because of some of the things we are doing during the day. We don't want to be rushed!

We went and '06 and loved it! We wanted to go back this year but just couldn't fit it in the schedule. Our waitress was wonderful, the food was sublime and the show....well it was kind of tacky but cute and the whole experience was worth it to us.

We had it booked for 9-29 for the 8 pm show but just changed the other day to CRT instead. We switched only because DD wanted to celebrate her sweet sixteen in the castle.

If it rains, you still get fed, as the seating area is covered by a roof. The show will just get cancelled.

I thought the food was better at the Hoop Dee Doo, and I thought Hoop Dee Doo was funnier, though the fire dancer at the luau was spectacular, and I liked the chocolate mousse thing for dessert better than strawberry shortcake.

It might be worth doing once, but try to go when the weather will be nicer (we made the reservation the day we got to Florida, and the show was two days later.) so you aren' spending that kind of money on dinner and no show if it rains!

My family went in 2005 and it was a fun night. The show is a bit "cheesy", but my kids liked the dancers. The food was passable, nothing to get excited about. We lucked out and got a front row center table and that was with the DDP in its old form. I called about 5 months out and got that table. I know it is different now if you use the DDP. The category 2 tables seem pretty good, but I wouldn't want to sit in the cat 3's. I'm happy we went, but I'm in no rush to do this again. :) Maybe on a future trip we'll try it again.
