We are so overwhelmed with all the choices...are already SURE we are doing HDDR, Chef Mickey's, Boma and 'Ohana...and kids (10 & almost 8) have expressed an interest in Luau, but I've read many negative reviews on this board...If we don't Luau, there are so many other places we'd like to try, like an extra WS retaurant, or something over at GF...do you think we should bother w/Luau?

TIA:sunny:

I went to the Luau in May and was disappointed. The food was okay, but the entertainment was very lame. The plot is very weak and boring. The hula dancing isn't until the very end after you sit through the story of a girl who left the island and her family to go to the mainland. There are many better and more fun ways to spend $50 a person at WDW. HDDR is supposed to be good, as is Ohana. Also, any character meal would be more fun.

I've responded to this question numerous times, so I hope I'm not offending anybody by saying this was the biggest waste of time and money on our trip last August. I always say I wish I had known about these boards back then! The food is okay, but the entertainment is an insult to the audience's intelligence (including the children). Usually Disney entertainment is much more clever. At least before they revamped the show it focused on the dancing and it seemed authentic, although a tad serious. It's probably difficult not to see for yourself, but I wish somebody had spared us!!!!

 In spite of all the negativity on the board regarding the luau we have decided to keep our PS for July 31st. We went several years ago and really enjoyed it so I'm hoping maybe it's just our kind of "thing" that we like. I hope we won't be tooo terribly disappointed.

You'd be better off going to O'hana for dinner. Better food, activities for the kids and less $$. The luau was truly dissappointing.

That's how I felt last year when I booked it for our trip in August. I had heard some pretty negative stuff but figured what the heck. Would I do it again? No, probably not. The food was mediocre. Well, the pineapple was out of this world!! And the bread was terrific too. And the ever full glass of wine was okay. And we had terrific seats. But, the show was okay. My dd, then almost 10, said she was glad we did it but had no interest in going again. So, I wouldn't feel so bad about going if I were you.

This time we're trying HDDR. At least that's inside.

Didn't work for me, but your experience may be different. I won't be returning anytime soon. I always recommend that people try things for themselves though, so I'm voting yes, give it a try.

I'm not going, I have read to many negative things on here about it so why should I waste my time and money or I should say wishes.
