Hi. We will be heading to Disney with our 4 year old daughter in October. Two years ago we went to Ohana, and I liked the "action" but didn't like the food (I'm not a big meat-on-a-skewer person). How is the show? It is pretty much a luau? Is the food good?
Thanks for your help!
Crista :)

You will get many different opinions on this one.

My opinion is that the food at Ohana was much better than the Luau. We have been to the Luau and Hoop de Doo. I would think a 4 year old would probably enjoy Hoop de Doo more.

Totally agree! Save your money and go to Ohana.

I didn't mind the food. DF hated it.

I thought the show was... um.. cheesy. DF hated it. Really, really hated it.

OTOH, we love Hoop Dee Doo. We loved O'hana, but haven't been since the menu change.

Your daughter might like the show. I quite liked the fire throwers but the rest wasn't really good, at all, IMHO.

We loved the luau and we thought the food was awesome:thumbsup2 We won't do it every trip, but we will definitely go again sometime :cool1: :cool1:

I really liked the food. The ribs and banana bread were excellent as was the fresh fruit. The dessert wasn't that great although served in a fun way as the platter smoke.

The show wasn't that great. It was ok...not over the top. The firethrower was very good. My four year old nephew was restless after the food during the show.

For me, I'm glad that I did it, but I probably won't be doing it again anytime soon.

It's deffinately worth doing at least once. Although I have to agree that the HDDR would probably be a whole lot more fun for a 4 yr old. :)

Thanks for your input, everyone! It was so helpful. I think I've decided to skip the Spirit of Aloha for this trip.

Hey Crista!

My dd and I did it 2 years ago and didn't even stay for the end of the show.

Oh, and it's outside in the HEAT.

We love HDDR and do it every year.

The show is similar to what you would see at a luau in Hawaii. In fact I would say it is one of the best luau shows I've seen.... However, I can't say the same thing about the food. the only Plus was that in Hawaii, my picky eater could not get Macaroni & Cheese.

If you never foresee an opportunity to go to Hawaii, do the Luau at least once. Otherwise, I'd say do Hoop d doo

I did it as a kid in the 70's and I hated it so much I am now 41 and I have never been back :lmao:
