Disclaimer: I am not making fun of these babies, just posting interesting names. I also will not only post names I think are bad, but names I like, too (though most will be names I don't like). Since we're a university town and this is a university hospital, some names will be foreign.

The worst name (by far) that I have ever heard was Eptwarnd (EPTwarned). At least once a month he is listed in our local crimewatch. You have to wonder what the heck his mama was thinking (or smoking)?

EPTwarnd? :confused3:confused: Really?

Just looked the OP's list over...:scared1: What the heck is wrong with Robert and George? :lmao: Kidding, kinda sorta.

Poor little Eugene, Gloria, and Mable - nineteenth century names in a 21st century classrooom.

I think they'll be alright, because they won't be alone.

In our area it seems to be the popular thing to use the "older" names. My DD is going to be 4 and she's already surrounded by Mable, Rose, Ida, Gladys, and many others. I like a lot of those names, so I'm happy to see people using them.

But you have no empathy for Leif and Rhodes, from much earlier centuries? ;)

:rotfl:I know kids named Leif and Rhodes! Plus, they don't sound as much like the roll call of your great-great aunts and uncles...:rotfl:

Well, how about poor Bentley? Being named after a car... granted, a very expensive, car, but still :lmao:

Remass?:sad2:

I wonder if their first kid's name was just "Mass".
Being as consumer-oriented as I am (read: watch a lot of television/see a LOT of ads) I wonder if they meant to name him for the real estate company?

Remass?:sad2:

I suspect it's meant to be Remus, just unusually spelled. Same with Phedre (Phaedra, unless we're missing the accent over the first e, in which case the spelling is conventional, but French: Phèdre).

As to "older" names, in our area the champ in that category is Margaret. DS has 11 Margarets in his grade, out of about 85 kids.

Well, i am a Jennifer. Needless to say, ever since I was a child I knew that when I became a Mommy I wanted my child to have a name that was "different" but not too far out there.

We named our daughter Reagan. This tells you the kind of people I was workign with when I was pregnant. I told coworkers we were naming her Reagan. Now most of the time, I get "You mean like the President?' however my coworkers at the time would reply: "You mean like the girl in the Exorcist?" LOL!

We've been pretty lucky that no one else we know has her name, except for at her daycare, there is an infant who is named Raegan (speeled a bit differently). We lived in a small town, so it doesn't surprise me if they heard of our Rea and chose the name.

The only time we ever meet a Reagan is at DisneyWorld. So far on our trips I have met two. And funny enough, they are the same age as my Rea.

My neice is named Madison, back in the late 90's at the height of the Madison popularity. She knows several other Madisons.

I do have a super secret name that the hubster and I both like if we have another girl. We were going to use it for Reagan, but we felt that it was too out there. Now with all of the Kennedys, Taylors, Chandlers, etc we come across, we plan on using it. However, I am sunk if I ever have a boy. Most of the boy names I like are traditional and common.

Trust me, that's a good thing. Would you go to a doctor named Mark or James or would you go to one named Axel?

Just looked it up for my own edification. Phedre (with assorted missing accents) is apparently the French spelling of Phedra or Phaedra. It is an old classical Greek name.

OK, some of the names are really weird...Ja'miyla(g) and De'ziyah(g) :confused3

Jamila is a common name in the Middle East, but that spelling is pretty out there. The closest thing to the other one that I can think of is Dasia, which is Greek.

might help if we knew how to pronounce them it.
