If you have light colored eyes (light hazel, green, blue), do you have a hard time driving at night? My eyes are kind of similar to the ones shown in the other thread, with perhaps more green thrown in. I can drive at night but I have a harder time seeing. Driving at night in the rain is something I do only when I have to. I get regular vision checks and my vision itself is fine. My doctor said that people with light colored eyes in general have poorer night vision than those with darker eyes. I was wondering if this theory would ring true here.

Also, I don't know if this has anything at all to do with eye color, but I sometimes see spots and am at risk for retina detachment. Does anyone else with light eyes have this condition?

Thats an interesting theory! I have blue eyes and I am extremely sensitive to light, you will never see me outside on a sunny day without sunglasses otherwise I am sure to get a headache.

Same story as Angel's with me. It is painful for me to be outside on a really sunny day without sunglases. I also have a hard time driving at night.

I have hazel and yes I have trouble at night, especially the bright lights of another car. I usually wear sunglasses.
I do not have the condition you asked about though.

I have blue eyes and am extremely sensitive to sunlight and I, also, have a hard time driving at night. My youngest DS has blue eyes and has to wear sunglasses or suffer from headaches.

I have blue eyes and am very sensitive to light, especially sun. I squint all the time, and even sometimes with my sunglasses on. I've been to the eye doctor and nothing is wrong, perfect vision.

At night I have a hard time with the on coming headlights it's as if my eyes are drawn right into them.

My son also has blue eyes and I'm starting to notice that he also has some light sensitivity.

I don't feel uncomfortable at night, but I am very sensitive during the day. I always have to wear my shades - even if it's cloudy outside .

I also have some eye problems which are ocular rosacea, and the possible begininng stages of glacoma. I don't know if they have to do with eye color

I have hazel eyes that are 20/20 but it is SO SO hard to drive at night, especially in the rain that I couldnt figure it out - glad to hear its "normal." I was told at 16 that the main cause for my headache was the sun and to always wear sunglasses outside - can even help w/ reducing the chances of cancer to the eye.

My dark brown eyer DH has retina detachement "Pre" syndrome.....not sur ethats related to eye color?

I have green eyes and do not have a problem with my eyes being sensitive to light or driving at night due to the color...I am nearsighted which is my problem...but I have never heard of this before so maybe I am sensitive and don't know it....

Me, too! I very rarely drive at night but I have really dark brown eyes.

My eyes are light green and I am extremely light sensitive. There is an area here where I have to drive through lots of trees. The sun peaking through the trees and then shade creates a strobe light effect that, even with sunglasses, will give me a throbbing headache.

I have never felt I had a problem driving at night, but I don't really like it.

I am having a hard time driving at night and I have light colored eyes. But I am also middle-aged, so that may have something to do with it.

But I like the idea of blaming my eye color!!!!

I have light blue eyes. I am extremely sensative to light. If there is the slightest bit of sunshine outside I have to wear my sunglasses. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but driving at night doesn't bother me. I actually like it better.

I have green eyes and am very sensitive to light. I always have sunglasses on even at dusk! Night driving is hard because of all the bright lights. I also have floaters. The eye doctor told me it was normal for my age! I am only 40 somthing!!

Really? I've never heard of that! I have "chameleon" eyes - green/grey/blue - and I thought it was just me, that had so much trouble driving at night. I'm okay if I'm the only one on the road, but if someone is coming toward me, I'm completely blinded. If someone is behind me, I have to turn my mirrors so I can't see the lights. And forget it if it's raining - it's like driving into a wall of light.

I have very dim lights in my home, too, and I've even been known to put on sunglasses at work because the lights are so bright.

i have light colored eyes and yeah, i have a hard time driving at night sometimes, too. and if the sun is really bright, i have problems too.

i have "spots" as well, but mine are called "floaters" and my eye doctor assured me that it's nothing serious, that it happens. you should ask your doctor, tho. he'd know more than i do!

My eyes are green and I prefer not to drive at night. And just like you the combo of night and rain is a bad one.

I'm also quite light sensitive- driving in the winter with the sun out and snow on the ground gives me an instant headache.
