Spilt Stays and MYW packages

I take it that the only way to get MYW packages (and free dining) with a split stay would be to make two separate reservations?

Now if I did make two separate reservations, how would the dining work -- expire on the last day of the first reservation, and start up again on the next day on the other?

Yes, you need 2 reservations.

Dining on 1st reservation expires at midnight of your check out day.

Dining on 2nd reservation starts the same day, but also expires at midnight of check out day for 2nd reservation.

The credits can overlap on that day.

You're not paying "double" for that re-check in day, because price is based on the number of nights.

It is my understanding that you must also split the park tickets - which can cost you.

Yes, you have to have at least a one day ticket per person for each reservation. Depending on how many days, how many people (also depends on how many are kids), etc. it can still be worth buying the extra tickets in order to get the free dining.

Thanks everyone. This is very helpful.

Suppose I have a split stay -- 4 and 4. I know that I could get a package on the first reservation, and get an 8 day MYW ticket with it.

Then on the second, I just could get a 1 day base ticket to get the package.

Now, here's the question. Can I save that 1 day base ticket for a later trip? Or must I use it during those 4 days. There is conflicting info on this, anyone with actual experience or who knows for sure who can say for sure.

You can save it. One day tickets do not expire. You can use it for a later trip, or even upgrade it.

We had a split stay last year on the free dining, and already had APs.
