First of all let me preface by saying I am European and I know Americans do not wear them as much as we do, but I got a new Speedo for my birthday and wondered if they are allowed at the resort pools? We will be on holiday for 1 week in September.

Well, technically they are a bathing suit. so I don't see why not? :confused3

But I am not security :lmao:

That's what I was thinking. Have not seen anything prohibiting the Speedo.

I wouldn't think they're prohibited, but they're really not commonly worn in the US and you may get some funny looks. Bathing suit styles are relatively conservative here (trunks for men, bathing suit tops legally required for women in most places, and thongs and speedos not really considered appropriate in family-friendly public places).

while it is socially acceptible for women to walk around in practically nothing it doesnt seem the case for men in the united states. im just giving you an honest answer. it isnt banned or anything but you may generate a few giggles

I've heard numerous reports of people wearing them at the pools and waterparks. I'd imagine that if the Disney staff felt you were breaking a dresscode rule they'd ask you to cover up or wear something else. I honestly think you'll probably run into more problems from other guests than Disney itself. Stares, grumbles, comments and all that. You're correct that it's really not accepted in the US, and people's argument will be "This is a kids place you should be covered more" and stuff like that. I guess if you're comfortable wearing one, and you're appropriately covered so as to not break a Disney dresscode rule, and you don't mind that you'll probably get mean looks and the like, go for it.

We also run into the same over here. Most of the camper van owners are grossly overweight and have no business in them. My wife says that I have the body for them so I am not embarassed at all as they are quite common in Poole, UK. It is quite common to sunbathe topless as well and we would never at Disney.

You are allowed, but I'd rather you didn't. I really don't care to see your package. I stay away from Typhoon Lagoon for that very reason.

If you look like Hugh Jackman, please do, otherwise, please don't ;)

Where what you want and are comfortable in. I know I don't care what you where. But I might just be a liberal Canadian and what do I know?;)

I loath double standards! I truly appreciate your concern and not wanting to offend anyone. That said, it's a bathing suit - are people taken back when watching the olympics ~ there's plenty of them there, even worn by member of teh US!! :scared1:- There's no bathing suit police for the many women who wear a bikini and shouldn't so have at your speedo and get a great tan!!

Happy Birthday!!
