Speculation on Christmas parade???

Just wondering if anyone has heard anything, or can give me some idea of when the Christmas parade would be taping this coming year??

We are headed down Dec.5-13th, and I'm hoping to avoid MK the day they film it as I'm expecting it to be VERY crowded.

Any info would be great as to what to expect!

The ABC Christmas Parade is always taped the first weekend in December, but I don't believe that the "official" dates have not bee announced yet. And yes that is always a crazy day at MK.

Ah crikey! I forgot all about this when we rescheduled our trip for the first week of December. I want no part of parade filming and if I had to sit through music by any of the so-called Disney channel stars, I'd have to be committed. We are leaving on that Monday, so I'd hate to not do the MK on our last day at least for a little while(Sunday the 6th). Do they normally film on both Saturday and Sunday? Any strategies to avoid Main St. and still be able to enjoy the park?

We arrive that Saturday (the 5th) and I guess we will probably avoid MK like the plague. Does anyone know what the rest of the parks are like?

I'd like to know too if they tape both days?

In the past, they tape the castle stage performances on Friday, the parade itself on Saturday. Sunday is a reserve day in case they can't film something on Friday or Saturday (possibly due to weather).

That's good to know. That means Sunday is still a possibility.

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. As of now, we are planning on going Sat. night (the 5th) and then on Sunday (our last day). I'm getting a bit concerned about this Jonas Brother rumor...what a nightmare.

I am concerned as well. My daughter is turning 7 on the December 6/Sunday and that is our first day in the parks. I REALLY need to do Bippity Boppity and Cinderellas table that day for her. The added stress of humongous crowds is killing me. Do you think it will be hideous???

It is what it is for us...we can't shift dates or even parks for that matter b/c our trip is only 4 days. We've never been when it's crowded before, so if it is, we will just look at it as a new adventure. Since the taping is during the day, I'm just hoping that be evening things won't be too horrible. Maybe by Sunday the crowds will be back to normal. Crossing our fingers......

I will be there for the first weekend in December and am actually looking forward to possibly seeing the parade taping.
It always looks so cool on t.v. Christmas morning.
They always show faces of people in the crowds and they look like they are having fun.
I've been to MK so many times that this would be a new experience for me.
If it is too crowded and annoying, I will just move on.

I've never seen it on TV myself, but some of the posts I have read recently made it seem as if it was an absolute nightmare...crowd levels predicted at 9??? I wonder if they are always that high for the taping day, or if it's b/c of the Jonas Bros.? I guess I'm just spoiled b/c we always go Jan/Feb and we are able to walk on to most of our rides. On the bright side, we were warned about going over Thanksgiving,too. We were told by many that the crowds were going to be just awful, but our longest wait was 20 min. Guess we'll just have to see for ourselves!

Typically the Magic Kingdom is busy on Parade Taping Day. We were there in 2006 and it was packed, so we ended up hopping to Epcot.

Also, people need to note that the Christmas Parade is not filmed in it's entirety in one shot. The Parade is painstakingly filmed and refilmed in small little increments through out the day. Guests are contained into one area and you must remain in that area for a specific amount of time while they are trying to get a certain shot. And someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you have to sign-up in advance to get a pass to be one of the Parade spectators. This is a highly orchestrated event, you just can't walk up to the curb at Main Street U.S.A. and think you're going to spend a leisurely day watching the parade.

I have been to the MK on parade tapings in the past and Main Street is absolutely crazy but the rest of the park isn't too bad. It is definitely busy like a summer day but not completely unmanageable.

We come in late on the 4th, so I am planning on sleeping in then hitting the MK for a few hours. We have a 3 year old and a newbie 9 year old niece and they will be itching to see the Magic Kingdom. If it is too busy we will hop to another park, but we will be there at least a little while!

P.S. You could not pay me to do the parade taping. It looks like an absolutely miserable experience....and it takes forever!

We are just coming in on Saturday, so perhaps we'll head somewhere else for the day/night. I think that Sunday we will just visit family and stay away from the parks all together.

Does anyone know if the following week will be busy??

I was there last year on Friday the 5th and had lunch at Tony's Town Square while they were taping David Cook's performance outside. They were doing the parade the next day, Saturday the 6th. It was pretty crowded just with the people trying to see David Cook. My SIL bumped into him in the hotel elevator at the BoardWalk that morning. We didn't even know anything about it before then. She came running back up the room saying she just saw the American Idol guy. Here's a picture we took from the restaurant porch:

So the parade is on Saturday, but they may tape other segments on other days.

The taping makes MK gridlocked, particulalry on Main st.i think PrincessTiffany is right, I don't think just anyone can stand as a spectator on Main St and watch.As for the Jonas Bros rumor, Rumor has it that they are the performers this year, so that will make MK really really crowded as well. Crowd levels are predicted at 9 for that weekend , so it will be really packed.I forgot to add....it is filmed in tiny snippets, and if not right re-done, and re-done and re-done...it makes for a long day.
