Speculation on Christmas parade???

The taping makes MK gridlocked, particulalry on Main st.i think PrincessTiffany is right, I don't think just anyone can stand as a spectator on Main St and watch.As for the Jonas Bros rumor, Rumor has it that they are the performers this year, so that will make MK really really crowded as well. Crowd levels are predicted at 9 for that weekend , so it will be really packed.I forgot to add....it is filmed in tiny snippets, and if not right re-done, and re-done and re-done...it makes for a long day.

Thanks my dd is bummed we may miss seeing the JB but I told her it would be way too crowded. We planned on going Tuesday (a low day) to the MK.

The CMs will have "isles" roped off on one side of the street. In between shooting they let people travel back and forth on that side of the street. Once they are ready to film another shot that area will be closed off again and you will have to wait. Also, I have read other posts where Disers said that Main Street was totally closed down and they had to take the train back to Frontierland just to get into the park.

I am so glad I came across this thread! We're going Nov. 29-Dec. 6 and were looking forward to low crowds. We were planning on MK for Saturday, Dec. 5, but it sounds like that might not be the best idea!

Oh darn! I guess I'll have to start planning all over again.

This sounds like total nightmare to me. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about my daughter's birthday being on the Sunday- December 6th. And in her little heart - it is Magic Kingdom for her.

Can anyone make me feel better about it? Is there a chance they might not be taping on the Sunday? Someone mentioned it is like a "make-up" day?? Can someone give a report from last year or confirm this?

I know the Saturday will be crazy at MK, but how bad is the Friday when they tape the performances? Is there a certain time of day they usually tape them, or is it all day? If you avoid the areas anywhere near the front of the castle, how bad is the rest of the park? Are most of the people there that day hanging out near Main Street and the castle trying to see the stars instead of being in line for the rides?

I can't report from last year, but in '06 I was there on Sunday of the first weekend in December, and there was no filming being done that day. Like you mentioned, my understanding is that Sunday is a make-up day, so I would assume that they would only film that day if weather or technical issues came up on Saturday.

I can't tell you or promise you that there won't be filming on that day...Sometimes they use Sunday to get extra footage and shoot -re-dos.Sometimes they don't. I can tell you that if they are shooting performances on Friday and the Jonas Bros are performing...it will be bedlam.Saturday during filming is also NUTS imho...but there are lots here who enjoy Mk during the filming.

As I recall (from 2007) when they did the filming on Friday, it was only in the morning. The rest of the afternoon, the park wasn't that busy (I got there after the tapings were finished).

We'll be staying at WDW Dec. 1 - 8. On Friday the 4th we plan to do AK. On Saturday (the highest crowd day of our stay) we're planning on EP. And on Sunday we'll hop between EP & DHS. We'll hit MK on the 2nd and perhaps hop there part of another day depending on Fireworks and Spectromagic schedule.

I remember reading here on disboards about a couple who wore their Christmas sweaters & decorative headgear and sweated out the Christmas parade crowd (I seem to remember they said it reached 80 degrees that day) and they never appeared in any shots of the parade. They swore they'd never do that again.

You'll have to purchase the Unofficial Guide (like the rest of us) to be able to answer the questions to get to the extended calendar. They do post a 30 day calendar for free. I think once you take a look at the book at the bookstore you'll want to purchase it.

The crowd calendar is no longer published in the book. You can either 1) subscribe to the site and pay the 7.95 or 2) Buy the book/borrow from library and follow the clues on the website and find the answers in the book to unlock the calendar that way.

I have read too, that Pop Warner is that week too (6-12th, I think), will that effect the crowd level at all? I hear for the most part they aren't at the parks too much.
I'm trying to convince Dh that if we get a free dining code that we should go that week for our DD's b-day. We usually go in March. So far he keeps saying no though.

We stayed at Pop last year during Pop Warner and we hardly ever saw them at the parks. Once in awhile we saw a group but not very often. Then again, we are early risers so we were at the parks for rope drops and I remember seeing the groups later in the day. They may hit the parks during the evenings.

Now I'm nervous. We are coming Tuesday Dec 1-6..I want to do two days in MK.. but what if Wed and Thursday aren't good days to go there?

My "sources" say Wed is a good MK day, but Thurs is not.


So what about Friday the 4th? How will MK be during the day? I know they have a MVMCP that night, so I assume if they do any taping Friday it will be over by party time.
