Still Day One

Kidani Village


Nighttime had fallen; our first day was drawing to a close. Tired, but happy, we welcomed the soothing sounds of African drums and vocals as we entered the lobby. It was even more beautiful at night:

The Gift Shop beckoned...

On our way back to our room(s) we passed the Library. What a gorgeous room! I hung back to snap a couple of pictures... figuring I would definitely want to make time later in the weekend to do more extensive resort exploring:

There's a circle of plush seating around this fireplace... the overstuffed pillows looked so cozy!

I scurried after the rest of the Moms... we had a slumber party planned!

As the ladies lingered in the gift shop coming back from our wonderful DHS day, I was eagerly anticipating my first look at our Villa. I'd left my laptop at Bell Services when I'd arrived earlier that day and headed straight off to DHS, so I still had exploring to look forward too.

Heidi showed me the way and I basically just walked in the door and started snapping away.


First, arriving to our door....

How fun is that? I loved seeing the Mickey Head balloons with the cute little strings hanging down. I remember joking to Heidi that when it came time to leave I wanted to take the 'surf board' along with me too.



The kitchen/dining/living room.....

The colours and details and sheer bulkiness of everything in these two rooms were so cool.... my eyes were just darting around to everything and I didn't even notice at first the gorgeous sheers hanging in the windows.



I walked straight into my room that I was sharing with Kathy with mouth agape....

This was where I was going to be sleeping the next three nights!



Marvelling at this incredible bathroom....

When I redecorate our master bath, this is what I want to recreate!! The Lion King tiles were just incredible and if I could buy them, I would.



A favorite detail that reminded me most of my banana girl....

Presents were waiting for me!

At that point, I put my camera away for the night and unpacked my waiting suitcase. I had a silly grin on my face most of that time and I just couldn't get over how happy I was at that moment. I'd just spent an awesome evening with these incredible women that I was now about to sit down and chat with. Oh and we still had three more days together.

I love, love, love Kidani! I think its probably my favorite resort right now and for all the reasons your pictures showes. I love the furnishings, the bright colors, the warmth, the background music, the art work, the lovely sitting areas, the giant bathroom, the small details on the furnishings.

If my purchase goes through on my add - on (at VWL) I will have a hard deciding whether to stay there or Kidani or my next trip.

When I last commented we were at One Man's Dream. I don't have too many pictures of the rest of the day but I can tell you for sure this one is mine:

It was so fun to be able to play TSM to the best of my ability and not have to let somebody win.

I have a couple others from TSM but neither of them are great:

I tried to show my high score for the vehicle:

It was unfortunate that we didn't get to see Fantasmic but waiting in that line wasn't going to be much fun so I was happy we chose to wait in line at TSM instead. It was a lot of fun to enjoy the queue with the other ladies.

I remember not really enjoying the Asian salad at the ABC Commissary - it had a bunch of funky stuff in it that didn't appeal to me. I think Heidi helped me out by eating a mystery ingredient that turned out to be a piece of ginger. Thanks Heidi - I wouldn't have enjoyed biting into that!

When we stopped at the gift shop at Kidani that night, I purchased a lanyard & pouch for myself along with an AKL pin. I also bought a couple pins for the boys. I'm sure you'll get a peek at the new lanyard in the days to come.

Day one was full of emotion for me - staring with a lot of excitement to be heading out on this adventure combined with a little guilt to be leaving the family. The weather that day was beautiful, the best of the whole trip, and hanging out with everyone was more fun than I could have imagined. But as it got late the long day was definitely taking it's toll on us. It was so nice to return to the beautiful villa at Kidani at the end of the day.

Speaking of shopping I did too I picked up a new key chain for myself and one for my DD Bekah as she has a collection on her backpack.

I also bought a Mickey St. Patrick's pin for my Mom as a thank-you for helping w/ the kids while I was gone.

Other purchases were to come as the next days progressed too...

but after a liitle peek in the gift shop, it was time for us gals to all get our pj's on and have some good talking time.

and as Tracy mentioned we had lots of gifts to pass around as we arrived
