Do you all think it is a "must see" for my 20 month old and 3 year old? The only time Spectro will take place the week we are there is on Saturday at 8pm. I had already planned on having the day as a rest day, with a 5:30 PS at Chef Mickeys, since MK is usually so busy. My kids are not good in lines and crowds (are any?!), but do you think I should switch my itinerary to accomodate Spectro?

If so, do you think we'll have plenty of time to get there with a 5:30 PS at Chef Mickey's? (We've not been there before either).

Thanks for your help!

Wow hmm... thats a tuffy...

I would say try and get another day for Mickey's, if that doesnt happen try to make it. I mean whats the worst that could happen? You miss it. But i would try my best to go and see it. I think your kids will think that it is a very cool thing. My parents stil find it to be the coolest. Oh well. Good Luck with whatever happens! I hope you have a magical vacation:) i bet your kids will for sure.

My wife and I decided at the last minute to stay for the Spectromagic since our 5yo and 3yo were holding up ok and we were so glad that we did. One tip, we were standing near the castle on the path that goes to adventureland when a cm came up and asked us if we were looking for a place to sit for the parade. When we said heck yes, she brought us behind a rope that closed off the road between the castle and liberty sq where they have a vip seating area. There were 2 large benches and absolutely noone else there. Every single character in the parade stopped and hugged and kissed our children. We were all on such a high after that experience that we stayed for the fireworks. I don't think we can ever go back to wdw since that moment can't be topped!

rhazz-is this where the reserved spot (when you buy a package there is a reserved area included) is?

Our 22 MO son was fairly indifferent toward Spectromagic. We had a good viewing spot--right along the street in Liberty Square. But he never really seemed to get into the parade.

By comparison, he loved both Tapestry of Dreams and Stars and Motor Cars. With TOD, a lot of the performers interacted with him as they passed. During SaMC, he recognized a lot of the characters on the "floats".

But with Spectromagic, neither of these factors came into play. Many of the characters were hard to pick out with it being so dark (even though the floats were covered with lights), and there wasn't much interaction as the procession made its way through the park.

It was a nice parade, and I'm sure we would have came away disappointed if we hadn't seen it. But based upon my own experiences, I wouldn't overturn your entire trip plan just for Spectromagic.

We had an awesome experience last summer at this parade. We staked out a curb spot by Casey's and got hot dogs to eat while waiting. My two children (5 & 6) had on GoH badges, and several of the characters stopped and called them by name, hugging them and talking for a second. The entire trip was magical, but that parade was a highlight for me, to just see the pure joy on their faces. I think you might have a hard time getting a good spot if you do Chef Mickey's at 5:30, so would also recommend changing your PS if possible. One of you could stake out a large spot while the other one amused your 3 yr old until closer to parade time. Haven't done Chef Mickey's yet, but I have heard it is wonderful. Either way you decide, have an awesome trip!

I would do my best to see Spectro. We saw it twice on our last visit and DD(4) just loved it. It might be hard to get a spot on main street after coming from Chef Mickey's because you want get to MK until 7 or after unless you eat and get out in a rush. You can however make your way to Frontierland and should be able to get a good spot there. On our last night at WDW, we knew Spectro and FITS was a must. We got to Main Street around 6pm for the 8pm show and got a spot up front. Characters came by and talked to DD and she was in heaven. To pass the time while waiting we got ice cream sundaes and people watched. Then we watched FITS afterwards and that is all we did that evening in MK and it turned out to be the best yet.Stayed there so long the boats had stopped running and had to take the monorail and bus back to WL.

I hope you make it!!

I'll tell you my 2yo just loved the parade! She saw it when she was 14 months old and was impressed then too.

Both times we sat right in front of the Main St. train station curb and she was seen and greeted by many characters coming by. It was nice for her to be so close to the action being on the curb. DH and I both really enjoyed the parade too. :)

You certainly don't have to cancel a Chef Mickey's ps to do the parade either. You could walk or take the monorail over from CR to catch the parade.

Please forgive my ignorance, Spectro starts approx what time? Spectro is the parade that lights up, correct? What time do the fireworks begin at MK? Fantasmic is the laser show at MGM, right? What do you think of that? When is the best time & best place to sit? Thanks!
