SpectroMagic parade rumor

I can't keep track of all the various parade comings and goings!

As far as I can recall, the Main Street Electrical Parade currently at California Adventure is the original WDW parade. When the Magic Kingdom in Florida brought the Electrical Parade back a few years ago, they ran the previously retired Disneyland version, right? But where is the Disneyland parade unit today? Do I remember reading it went to Hong Kong, or I am just imagining that?

Surely the Light Magic parade is dead and buried. I wouldn't mind seeing Tapestry of Nations again, though.

My cousin is in entertainment at WDW and he told me that Spectro is going to Europe. That's part of the reason why they made the spectromen into those creepy face characters. It makes them more Euro-friendly. I can't remember what he said they were bringing to FL though. I have to ask him about it!

Not to mention that Light Magic - as originally conceived - required all these additional video projector & light stands to be installed in the park. There were numerous locations where video projectors had to be installed to project video on to the parade floats.

I can't see them doing that in the Magic Kingdom in FL for a parade that lasted less than 8 months at Disneyland 11 years ago.

I will truly miss this parade. I totally love it. I must now make a point to see it while we are there in August. I hope that whatever replaces it will be just as good.

The original Main Steet Electrical Parade at Disneyland was retired and dismanteled several years ago. I was given a gift of one of the light bulbs in a colectors box. The parade was gone for a couple/few years and then re-appeared over in the DA.

They don't always have to reinvent the wheel. Give us the Main Steet Electrical Parade back in Florida where it belongs! After Goofy came to the screen Walt didn't get rid of Mickey! Add others if you must, but leave the original/best alone.

I would not be suprised. I mean, I saw the parade the FIRST time I went to Disney... and I was 5 years old, I'm 21 now.

Haven't watched SpectroMagic for the past few visits it seems. I have it recorded on a home movie so I am up for a change. I will not miss the music so much. Did not see the scary clown faces so I hope I get to see some pics if it does go away. If not, I'll make an effort to watch it in Jan.

what is it about MSEP that you love so much that Sprectromagic falls short on?

Much as I loved the Main Street Electrical Parade, I am beginning to think I'm nearly the only one to possibly prefer SpectroMagic. Note I said possibly - it's a tough call, really. I certainly love Spectro's music, though.

That said, neither parade is exactly new anymore. Perhaps it is time for something new. Certainly in 2008 Disney should be able to produce a nighttime parade far superior to either of those two predecessors. Of course, I have absoluteluy no confidence today's Disney would actually produce a superior product, and unless we get a 'recycled" Tokyo parade, every expectation anything new would instead be disappointing on a 'Light Magic' level.

It's funny how time clouds your memory.

I remember the first few times I saw SpectroMagic and while I loved the new technology on the floats and the Fantasia section, I kept saying, "I wish they'd bring back MSEP, I like that music better."

Then they brought back MSEP for a few years. Yes, I still enjoyed the music, but you could see how dated the parade was. Then my mantra was "I wish they'd bring back SpectroMagic."

I went to Paris and was not impressed with Fantillusion, though I was expecting to be blown away.

I never got to see Light Magic, but I liked the music, especially when they threw into the ending part of Baroque HoeDown (from MSEP).

So maybe it is time for Disney to go to the drawing board and create something new.

The biggest difference is the music.
MSEP is upbeat, happy, different, playful, etc. Makes you want to get up and join in... dance in the street. It's filled with Emotion!!!
And they are able to injet some Disney music from popular films.

Spectro.... is just boring music!!! to the point of being annoying!

And the floats are much better in MSEP.
And I miss Pete's Dragon!

yeah...the spectro music is so boring. MSEP as was posted above, is just a lively parade, with good music, good floats, and you end up enjoying it so much, you don't want to leave
