SpectroMagic parade rumor

I saw MSEP when I was 8...haven't seen it since. I guess I don't remember the music all that much...except for the 'Lady's and gentleman, boys and girls'....in the electronica voice. That was pretty cool. I need to see it again. Hmm, maybe I can see it on youtube!

The biggest difference is the music.
MSEP is upbeat, happy, different, playful, etc. Makes you want to get up and join in... dance in the street. It's filled with Emotion!!!
And they are able to injet some Disney music from popular films.

Spectro.... is just boring music!!! to the point of being annoying!

And the floats are much better in MSEP.
And I miss Pete's Dragon!:cloud9:

I miss Pete's Dragon too, I always wanted to be the kid who got to ride the float.

i could send the music, if you want to bring back some memories...

Much as I loved the Main Street Electrical Parade, I am beginning to think I'm nearly the only one to possibly prefer SpectroMagic. Note I said possibly - it's a tough call, really. I certainly love Spectro's music, though.

That said, neither parade is exactly new anymore. Perhaps it is time for something new. Certainly in 2008 Disney should be able to produce a nighttime parade far superior to either of those two predecessors. Of course, I have absoluteluy no confidence today's Disney would actually produce a superior product, and unless we get a 'recycled" Tokyo parade, every expectation anything new would instead be disappointing on a 'Light Magic' level.

I gotta tell you as someone who DID see several versions of "Light Magic" it was just TOO weird for words.

Imagine floats filled with "Spectromagic" creepy men, who dressed like a cross between the Lucky Charms guy and the Spectro Butterflies and a hobo... and performed Riverdance on floats.. but didn't know all the steps quite right..

:)

WEIRD.

Thank you...You just made a hard day a little brighter:)

I just got back from Disneyland and a parking attendant who used to work on Main Street told me that he heard from a friend who works at Epcot, who is sleeping with a float driver on Spectromagic that Spectro is indeed moving to Disneyland (which needs a nighttime parade). The driver also told this person that starting this June, they will all be trained on float operations for a former Disneyland parade/show that will be shipped to WDW's MK next fall. That show is called "Light Magic". They are expecting it to be a hit in Florida.

:rotfl: :lmao: I thought it was the butler that did it!

I like SpectroMagic... actually, I love SpectroMagic. I watch my video of it quite often. Maybe it's because I've never seen any of the other night parades. However, I don't really like the idea of Disney "recycling" parades from other parks, especially if they didn't work well the first time.

The Electrical parade is still running at DCA. I saw it last Friday and it looked as good as ever.

This is good news for me, as 20+ viewings of SpectroMagic.... well, it's gotten sort of annoying.

Oh man, if this is true I will sure miss Spectromagic parade. :sad1: That was the best Disney night parade EVER.   It was true Disney magic and a must see on every Disney trip. If they replace it I sure hope they can top it. This gets me nervous.

I have the Light Magic parade on dvd. It's good. I don't know why it received bad reviews when it was running at Disneyland. The music was good and that's so crucial for any successful Disney parade. If the music flops so does the parade. It's not better than Spectromagic. Spectromagic will always be my favorite nighttime parade.

I rather see the original Main Street Parade. It was more geared to the design of charaters then spectro is. The Main Street Electrical Parade always gave me goose bumps. As for the light parade I don't know so I have reserve judgement until I see it. They really do need to do something IMHO.

Trust me - NOBODY wants to see the original Light Magic parade.

Nobody.

I am among those who still pine for the original Main Street Electrical Parade. Maybe it's because I'll never forget seeing it my very first night in WDW over 25 years ago. But I just have to hear the music and my eyes fill up. I love SpectroMagic, but I was thrilled when it returned in 1999 and I was able to see it that first night and share it with my oldest. It's a classic.

I just watched Light Magic on You Tube. I'm with Knox...:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:  Um...NO!

really???

Here's a parade in which Disney had invested upwards of 20 million dollars .. in hopes it would have a long and extensive run.

The complaints and guest reactions were SO BAD .. that it was cancelled after less than 3 months. And NEVER returned. And that was over 10 years ago at DL. I'd be shocked and surprised if the floats and so forth haven't been recycled a long time ago.

To perform this parade properly as originally designed, video projection and lighting stands would have to be installed at various locations along the parade route in MK. This was done at DL at GREAT expense.

This was a pretty big 'woops' in the grand scheme of things.

Its not going to be coming back from the dead. I'd bet the farm, the cows, the tractor, the barn..... Again, the poster who mentioned in this thread was clearly kidding. This puppy is NOT coming back in any form. And even if it did, you probably couldn't PAY Disney to use the Light Magic name again.

NOOOOO! I LOVE SpectroMagic (yes, even the creepy masked men...when they were masked)!!!!
I will be disappointed, unless something even BETTER comes along..........
